Conceal Contents - Supplies should be hidden out of sight under the seat, in locked compartments, behind the seat back, in a decoy container (old paint bucket), glovebox, under a blanket, etc. Minimize “Bling” - Upgrades and equipment packages will just make your vehicle a bigger target. Sterilize Vehicle - Remove “prepper-centric” stickers, decals, logos, etc. Make the vehicle's appearance to be worn by not doing regular washes, scraping paint, allowing visual wear/tear (not performance related). Camouflage and Concealment - When parking/camping after LAE, use location specific camo and concealment to hide your vehicle from observation. Acknowledge the local environment and foliage and situate your vehicle off the beaten patch while allowing it to blend in. Blend in - Your vehicle shouldn’t be red, yellow, or orange in color. Download the entire guide at link in bio or www.superessestraps.com A bugout vehicle (BOV) is any device designed to transport a person that is either human or motor propelled, and is also equipped with prepositioned supplies and equipment to aid during emergency scenarios. This could be a car, truck, van, SUV, motorcycle, bicycle, plane, train, boat, etc. It must be outfitted with a Vehicle Emergency Kit (VEK) which has equipment and tools that stay inside or otherwise attached to the vehicle, until needed. It should have tools for overcoming problems like a dead battery, frosted windshield, and low fuel. It should solve basic vehicle recovery issues. It should be there for a crisis such as a long-term stranded motorist incident, snow storm, and crash. The VEK will also be a supplement during survival or medical emergencies by providing necessary supplies to start a fire, sustain health needs such as food/water obtainment, signaling, communication, shelter, warmth, navigation, and other basic life sustainability requirements. Vehicle preparedness goes beyond the type of vehicle and the items you pack inside. You must possess basic knowledge of tactical/evasive driving, keen situational awareness, and an understanding of how to improvise and overcome. Some common sense and planning can help ensure you stay moving during storm weather, heavy traffic, and when navigating through high crime areas. Your tactics and preps change during a Life Altering Event (LAE) such as widespread catastrophic attack, disaster, or civil unrest.

Know where you’re going to go. Set Bugout Locations (BOL) and Rally Points (RP). Ideally you should have two BOLs and as many RPs as would be relevant to reach your BOL or retrieve supplies from or to meet and share/collect information. BOL - This is the endpoint you should be traveling to when you intend to escape from home. This is a mid to long-term location to seek shelter, refuge, and/or rebuild/establish a homestead. This location can be a second home or vacation house you already own. It could also be a friend’s Midwest ranch or an uncle’s cabin in the mountains. It could be a coworker's guesthouse if they live in a rural area. It should be away from high-population centers. Arrange a partnership or agreement to live at the BOL. if you don’t own it. You don’t need to be rich and own your own BOL when you could simply pre-plan with a friend. RP - These are points along your travel path to the BOL. They are also meeting or cache points. Consider the option of storing fuel/supplies at these areas. Also, consider the need to meet in person at a halfway point between yourself and a partner in the event comms are down. Make multiple travel routes. Note multiple exit routes from your neighborhood or home. Plan multiple routes to your BOL, primary/secondary/contingency. Make these plans and share them with others in your team. A digital map is great (GPS, app-based maps, etc), but you must have local, state, and national hardcopy printed maps as a backup. Keep these in your VEK. Bugging out should be a team effort. Others should know when, why, where. Your immediate family that you plan on bugging out with may be in different locations (school, work, home) when an LAE occurs. Make plans on coordinating a meet if necessary. If you don’t use ICERS, at least utilize a GOTWA warning.
