One of my favorite guest book suggestions for my couples is a guest book Bible, and I’m so glad Gracie & Andrew chose this for their wedding (as did we!). It’s such an incredibly meaningful & special start to your marriage - and an instant heirloom and treasure. I suggest having a bespoke Bible created for your wedding guest book (whether the Bible itself is engraved or embossed or you have a custom leather cover made) with your new married names and your wedding date. I love creating little ribbon note card inserts for guests to write on with beautiful silk ribbons in your wedding colors to really keep the design cohesive and memorable. And then, during your wedding, your families and friends are able to share their favorite Bible verse, a prayer or blessing for your marriage, any marriage advice, or sweet well wishes for you. Having a Bible guest book is wildly meaningful and such a treasure, especially when it’s filled with special notes and prayers for your marriage from your most loved ones. Atlantic Beach is a very special place to the bride’s family, in particular! Her father has had a family beach house for many decades, and the family just finished building a beach home right next door to the older home. Their new beach house was designed by the grandmother of the bride and the mother of the bride, and it was the most beautiful, special, and perfect spot for a Thursday night backyard BBQ before the wedding, where the parents, bride, and bridesmaids stayed all week long, where the bride and bridesmaids got ready on the wedding morning, and where many of the special early moments of the wedding day unfolded. Hair and makeup, spontaneous dance parties, popping the bubbly, and sweet moments together all took place at the family beach house, and then Gracie put on her wedding dress with her mom, did a fabulous bridesmaid reveal at the house, took some photos with her bridesmaids, and did a first look with her dad there. What precious memories to have in your home! It was so convenient - and so fun! - that the beach house was so close to the wedding venue and such a picturesque and gorgeous setting for so many anticipated moments. When building a reception tent from the ground up, you can really do anything with the design of the tent! The waterfront setting was an idyllic backdrop, and a white tent was the only way to go in the heat of June at the coast. The lawn was pristine and expansive, and we added a romantic white liner, draping, and then went to work creating the most beautiful, thoughtful, and fresh design inside the tent with ample space for movement of their 350 guests, along with the focal dance floor & bar. The focal oval bar in the tent was grand and beautiful with statement tall floral arrangements in each corner, rattan chandeliers and a chandelier of greenery above the bar, white shelves with blue glassware, powder blue & white floral decals for the bar fronts, signage in rattan frames, custom cocktail napkins and drink stirrers, and all the fresh and fun design elements at the bar. Gracie and Andrew’s ceremony was far & away the most important part of their wedding day, and what a beautiful setting it was as they became husband and wife! Their ceremony took place on the golf course practice range overlooking the sound, and the waterfront setting was so divine with boats and birds coasting by. We adorned it with a massive floral arch to frame their ceremony, and this backdrop was exquisite and decked out with lush flowers and greenery. The aisle flowers were so effortlessly gorgeous, the white chiavari chairs (350 of them!) were timeless and fresh, and the overflowing urns at the back of the aisle were the icing on the cake. Layering textures, palettes, and design elements is key! I don’t want my wedding or editorial designs to feel flat, and there’s so many ways to creatively add some unexpected touches in to achieve an elevated, timeless, fresh design with unforgettable details. For this tabletop, in particular, I really embraced rattan touches (a nod to summertime and my love of grandmillennial interior design), a variety of textures (velvet napkins, layered plates, rattan details, paper menus and place cards, a table linen with great texture, rattan chairs), a plethora of colors (I am most certainly not afraid of color, especially when used wisely: blush wine glasses, bold jade napkins, blue and white plates, salmon place cards, pink sea salt, a blue linen, slate blue taper candles), and small but significant details (gold salt cellars, using the wedding crest in the place card and also on the menu, unique white bone flatware, a variety of glassware shapes, thinking outside of the box with the rattan chairs). These magnificent florals also popped so beautifully and tied in the entire color palette to ensure it is not only cohesive but stunning! So much of my wedding design work is to wholly embrace my creativity and where I draw inspiration from - while also creating something unexpected, unique, magical, and memorable for each couple and bringing them and their love story to life. I think the weddings I’ve planned and designed over the years are romantic, clean, colorful, beautiful, timeless, fresh, meaningful, joyful, layered, and elegant, and I always want to embrace what sets me apart as me while still creating and designing in new, challenging, inspiring ways! Caroline & Anders’ dinner was straight out of a dream! An outdoor garden party wedding with understated elegance, fresh yet meaningful details, and a scrumptious menu sounds just about perfect! For Caroline and Anders’ intimate dinner on the lawn, we chose to frame it with the historic Merrimon Wynne House in the background with crisscrossing market lights overhead. Drawing from their late summertime wedding date, we paired bold, juicy florals (so many gorgeous dahlias!) with white Beaufort chairs, complemented the warm-toned flowers with a dusty blue linen, added rattan chargers, white stoneware plates, classic silverware, hemstitched linen napkins, dusty blue place cards with pink calligraphy, and blue and white ginger jars to the ends of the long dinner table. Voilà! Guests were first served individual cheese and charcuterie boards, with each board lovingly made by the father of the bride, branded with their wedding monogram, and topped with a colorful pendant name card. With heartfelt toasts, plentiful champagne, a beautiful cake cutting, a delicious multi-coursed al fresco meal under the stars, and so many sweet and intimate moments, it really was magic! When building a reception tent from the ground up, you can really do anything with the design of the tent! The waterfront setting was an idyllic backdrop, and a white tent was the only way to go in the heat of June at the coast. The lawn was pristine and expansive, and we added a romantic white liner, draping, and then went to work creating the most beautiful, thoughtful, and fresh design inside the tent with ample space for movement of their 350 guests, along with the focal dance floor & bar. The focal oval bar in the tent was grand and beautiful with statement tall floral arrangements in each corner, rattan chandeliers and a chandelier of greenery above the bar, white shelves with blue glassware, powder blue & white floral decals for the bar fronts, signage in rattan frames, custom cocktail napkins and drink stirrers, and all the fresh and fun design elements at the bar.
