It's been a week today since River came up very lame. We think he did something in the paddock as the night before he was completely fine and kept the other horses away from his food. He currently is on stall rest and got his first PEMF treatment on Tuesday and will have another one next week. Yesterday before taking them back. On Sunday, I took both to adult riders, and Ester did so well. I'm super proud of her. Yes, she got excited but managed to calm down and focus again when doing groundwork and then when riding her. Today's Day/morning start (in a way) āGot up way too early for my personal liking (more of a night owl and early mornings and I don't really mix that well š sorry babe for not being a morning person) āGot ready for work and put stuff in the car, including my two morning drinks (Glow drink and Shake) that I had prepared the night before so as not to wake anyone else up in the household āWent out to take River's rug off of him (me with him on the ground is a photo I took a few weeks back) āDropped partner off at work (he drove to work, I drove rest of the way to my work whilst slowly finishing my drinks) āGot back home and fed my 2 horses and put River's rug on him again whilst we wait for feed to soak up. Warning: Old photo forgot to get picture againš¤¦āāļø Had a good lesson yesterday. Went over some trot pols but River was very excited so we just stayed doing dressage. Was finally able to get good collection on the right rein but because the left rein is harder for us both and we were running out of time we had to stop trying on the left and simply just let river walk on a loose rein to cool off a bit. River and I working on collection. Ester is sick again and rivers leg where he had a hairline fracture is becoming a bit arthritic only in the cold when he warms up he is good. River worked really well and he was nice and happy. Really good at stretching down long and low at a walk and he is getting there in a trot. Saw my babies put a rug on River as it's been storming here forgot to bring halter and lead rope but luckily he came straight to me when he saw me but had troubles putting rug on as Harley another horse that's in the same paddock as River loves to destroy rugs and grabbed the rug while I was putting Rivers rug. I am so proud of my baby boy from the weekend. On Saturday Nan and mum took me to Sunninghill Equestrian Centre & Indoor Arena to do the Sunninghill January Show Jumping Training Day. A big thanks to Jill (my horse riding coach) for helping me gain confidence with jumping and riding in general. I was able to jump 60 cm on the weekend which I didn't even think I would do 50 cm let alone 60cm!!! For me this is a big step as my goal fo the year with River was to do 50 cm comfortably by the end of summer. I didn't think I would be doing 60 cm before the beginning of February. Considering this time last year I wouldn't even jump 40 cm this is a big step for me, I wouldn't even do small simple oxers (like the 4th jump in the second video). I want to thank everyone family and friends who have believed in me when I didn't, I want to thank my horse riding coach for pushing me to do my best with River. And I want to thank my mum for being there even though you had work and aren't on fb. Rode River on Monday and Tuesday and worked Ester my little nearly two year old on Tuesday after riding River. ā¢ River was on his best behaviour and I was able to get him to canter in a paddock that had jumps in it kind of like cross country but it was in a arena shaped and the grass was mowed. Before I rode River I trimmed his feet as they were getting a tad to long. ā¢ Havenāt seen my babies since Tuesday but hopefully if the weather is better today and there is less wind Iāll see them today. ā¢ With Ester on Tuesday did some picking up her hoof because her feet were a little bad and then just walked around and patted her which she didnāt like but I got her to get used to it both the noise and the feel until she didnāt flinch. I did this on both sides of her and in the end she wasnāt even flinching a bit which is good.
