Once you're at the top find the small doorway with another staircase going up... this takes you to an observatory which is the oldest in Europe. While the room was roped off so we couldn't fully explore, it was still cool to see the telescope and info around the room. Torvehallerne Market 🇩🇰 �1 Weekend in Copenhagen… the Top Places to Visit in Denmark’s Capital Copenhagen is a foodies dream destination with so many great restaurants in the city. But having only 1 weekend in Copenhagen limits the number of places you can try (unless you want to eat constantly!), so Torvehallerne Market is a great place to visit! It’s a mix of fresh food market with fish mongers, butchers, and fruit and veg on sale. And a food hall, with ready-to-eat food being served and a few bars to be able to grab a drink 🤩 Our Experience... We head there straight from Rosenborg Castle for a look around and to get a drink, and try some local @IsleOfMoen gin from Noorbo Handelen. The gin and homemade tonic is good, and the shop has a huge range of wines, other spirits and olive oils to try and buy. Vesterbro 📍 Billederne her er fra Sønder Boulevard på Vesterbro i København. Sønder Boulevard er en ca. 1,6 km lang gade. Den starter ved Halmtorvet og går hele vejen ned til Carlsberg St. Tilbage i midt 1800-tallet lå der her den inderste del af Danmarks første jernbane, Vestbanen. I 2007 fik Sønder Boulevard et ansigtsløft, og i dag er der mange aktiviteter på det lange grønne midterbælte gennem Vesterbro. Her er flere boldbure, legepladser, fitness område, bordtennisborde, samt grønne områder med smukke træer og bænke. Der er også flere café langs boulevarden. Lidt historie om Børsen Betalt samarbejde med @podimo_dk (REKLAME) Når jeg genlytter min podcastepisode om Børsen er det svært ikke at blive berørt over tabet af et stykke unik dansk kulturarv. 🇩🇰 Walking Copenhagen Harbour and Langelinieparken 🇩🇰 �1 Weekend in Copenhagen… the Top Places to Visit in Denmark’s Capital As well as the Little Mermaid, Langelinieparken has some other cool statues and Gefion Fountain to see (although there’s no water in the fountain this morning). And it's a nice walk along Copenhagen harbour front too. 🤩 Our Experience... We walk back to the city along the waterfront and see some more cool artwork and sculptures… a man sitting on a bench made from old car parts, and a replica of Michelangelo's David. København 📍 Billederne er fra Langelinieparken / pavillonen - hvor Ivar Huitfeldt-søjlen står omgivet af Japanske Kirsebærtræer. Ivar Huitfeldt (1665-1710) var en dansk-norsk sø(helt)officer. Huitfeldt tjente først i den franske flåde, efterfølgende blev han videreuddannet i Holland og derefter i den engelske søkrigstjeneste. Huitfeldt blev udnævnt til kaptajn i den danske flåde i 1691 og kommandør i 1704. Fra 1704-1709 var han chef for orlogsværftet i Christianssand (nu Kristiansand). Huitfeldt var under Den store nordiske krig chef for flåden. Han befandt sig på skibet Dannebrog, og i et slag ved Køge Bugt i 1710 mistede han livet, da han forsøgte at stoppe ild med at brede sig til de andre skibe, men blev fanget på sit brændende skib, hvis krudtkammeret blev antændt, hvorpå skibet sprang i luften. Besætningen på næsten 600 mand omkom på nær 9, som blev reddet. But that’s not to say she’s not worth visiting… the beautiful figure of the mermaid is one of the must-see sights and can you really say you’ve been to Copenhagen if you haven’t seen her?? 🤩 Our Experience... Coming at 9.30am means it’s very quiet, and we get to spend a good amount of time almost alone with the Little Mermaid. As she sits on her stone staring out to sea, we take some photos and then find our own rocks to sit on and stare out to sea too. 👍🏻 TrovenTrippers Tip... Don’t take the hop-on hop-off bus to the Little Mermaid. It took her months but after going thoroughly through every unsorted page in the archive, she was confident she had found the entire composition. She practiced the piece, one she had never heard before, over and over again for several weeks and the more she mastered it, the more awestruck she was at the masterpiece. When the first following gathering is about to come to a close, she takes the word and invites everyone to remain in the mess hall and listen to her play the piece. It’s unusual. Noone leaves. A deep breath. She begins. The tones from the small violin reverb against the concrete walls and fill up the entire mess hall. The piece is intense. A storm coming. She flies through every single note without fault. It builds and it breaks and the piece picks up again as it races towards its finale. She’s tense and focused and in a place between here and somewhere else. Somewhere very far away. She pulls the bow across the strings for the final note and the sound lingers in the air long after. She looks up. The faces around her are all teared up. BØRSEN 📍 A little walk down memory lane 😢 Lidt billeder fra de sidste år af dels selve Børsen - men også det meget specielle tårn. Christians IV opførte bygningen tilbage i 1620érne og den fungerede helt op i 1800 tallet som varebørs. Københavns Fondsbørs brugte bygningen indtil 1974. Stilen på bygningen er nederlandsk renæssance. Børsen er ca. 128 m. lang og 21 m. bred. Bygningen ejes i dag af Dansk Erhverv. / Børsens historie Byggeriet af Børsen startede ca. i 1619 og stod færdig i 1623. Dog blev den østlige gavl først færdig i 1640. Dengang blev stueetagen og første sal brugt som markedsplads med handelsboder. Grosserer-Societetet købte bygningen i 1855, hvorpå bygningens indre blev omdannet. Bygningens nuværende udseende var fra 1883, dog med små ændringer. I 1918 blev Børsen angrebet af anarkister (folk der mener ingen mennesker skal herske over andre). Dette er blevet kaldt Stormen på Børsen. Det var arkitekterne Lorenz van Steenwinckel og Hans van Steenwinckel den yngre der opførte Børsen. Børsen var mest kendt for sit snoet tårnspir. Dette kaldtes *Dragespiret* og er fra 1625. Dragespiret er udformet som fire dragehaler, der snor sig om hinanden. Spiret har tre kroner på toppen, hvilket symboliserede storriget Danmark, Norge og Sverige. I 1775 var man bange for spiret ville styrte sammen, hvorpå et nyt stortset identisk fyr blev opført. Spiret skulle efter sigende vogte huset mod fjendeslag og ildsvåde. Oggi è un giorno molto triste per i danesi e i cittadini di Copenaghen, il palazzo della Borsa è andato in fiamme e la bellissima torre con i draghi/serpenti è andata distrutta. Per me è stato un colpo al cuore apprendere stamattina la terribile notizia, anche perché consideravo la Borsa uno dei palazzi storici più belli della capitale. L'edificio della Borsa risale al '600. Pensare di non rivedere più quel fascio luminoso nel cielo che dal tetto della Børsen metteva in risalto le fattezze del campanile e delle architetture intorno, è veramente triste. Un incidente veramente incredibile, in un edificio in fase di restauro, proprio a 5 anni giusti dal terribile incendio che distrusse Notre Dame, pare, nella stessa modalità... anche se ora sono in corso gli accertamenti. Oggi, il giorno in cui la ex regina Margrethe compie 84 anni, purtroppo per la popolazione non sarà affatto un giorno gioioso di festa. Homage to Børsen part I 💚🩵 400 years of Danish cultural heritage gone up in flames. 😢 Built under the reign of Christian IV in 1619–1640, the building is considered a leading example of the Dutch Renaissance style in Denmark. It is a protected building for conservation purposes. On the morning of April 16, 2024, fire spread throughout the building, resulting in the collapse of the famous Dragespir (“Dragon Spire”) at around 08:32. The fire happened during renovation works in the main building. The scaffolding around Børsen was also caught in the fire. The cause of fire is unknown.
