Day 61 Mumu at Cotters Market in Townsville I just love drawing older dogs. A life story of love and dedication in their face, sometimes with a touch of sadness. I wonder, do they know their time is nearing? Or do they find themselves, as I am from time to time, just tired of life. Tired of how unkind people can be to other people, or dogs, or other animals, or even themselves. Dogs seem to have an almost indefatigable tolerance for bad behaviour whilst still staying devoted to their chosen humans. I was chatting to Mumu’s human’s. Beautiful people, also on the aging side of life. Mumu is one of the lucky dogs. Actually, to be fair, all the dogs I meet at outings are lucky dogs. Their devoted humans are including them in whatever human activities they can. And so often I can capture faces of joy. Oh, I just had a fleeting thought of poor dogs in a Dog Pound. I don’t think I could draw those faces without crying. On a technical note (when feeling too emotional always return to the technical- or pat a dog) I drew this largely freehand, only using rough pencil length measures. And I completed it before Mumu and her humans finished their breakfast.
