Happy friday The 10 Euro drums Today i bought some cheap drums, the Visionpad-6 ( here anything goes) they were up used for 100kr and i got them down to 50kr + a cable 25kr = 75kr So a total of - 10 euro 🔆 From new it is 680krr = 91euro - with no cable The build in speakers did not work ( thats why - the low price - maybe a cold soldering ) no problem i just ran it through my audio interface and then to daw, works fine. I then ran it through a cheap flanger pedal, sounded great, better in real than video. 4. What my son Magnus can hear sitting in the other room. 5. I've had a go at making a living wreath for our Springtime wreath this time. It was harder to assemble than expected and I used egg shells to attempt to conceal the bulbs. I have got it hanging on the gate rather than the front door as it's very wet. Once a month on a Saturday morning I volunteer at the Village Pop Up Library, offering craft activities for the children. Tomorrow we are doing a Valentines themed craft, which can also be kept for a Mother's Day gift if preferred. Whilst I work with children all week, I love my little voluntary role at the library, sharing my love of craft with the little ones. In my professional role I know that so many children are not allowed to 'get the messy stuff out' at home, or parents are afraid they lack the creative ability to share activities with their little ones, so enabling them to come to the library each month and be set free to indulge in a bit of creativity means the absolute world to me. January ends with my completed nature journal page. I am making this journal retrospectively this year and I like the pages introducing the months to be a snapshot of what will be included in the different entries, hence waiting till the end of the month to finish it. There isn't an entry for each day and I also include photographs alongside writing and painting. It's quite small, A5 format so I have to be very selective for this page, even in Winter! My reward for sticking to my plan all week is having a day crafting for pleasure. So this what I’m working on today. Once it’s all glued in place and dry I’ll go back in with colour and metallics to bring it to life. I have a semi formed plan with regards to colour but I’m not 100% sure it will work. I don’t want to lose the text in the background. A little play with paints and winter foliage in my nature journal today. Only on sunny days do I use our unheated sunroom for painting (too cold otherwise, unless with a coat on and a hot water bottle on my lap!) so I have made the most of the bright sunshine the last couple of days to catch up with my nature journaling. It's really the only room in the house with enough daylight for art. Hi all! Been a VERY long time since I posted... I didn't quite realise it through summer, but I've been building to this week. I had the most amazing week. As some of you know, I've been working with the charity Mind for about 18 months now. Initially I was struggling to do any exercise at all, it took me to a really dark place with my mental health... Anyway, between @mindcharity, and my wonderful exercise psychologist (Made Up to Move), my relationship has massively improved - so much so I've been part of a fantastic campaign between @asics and @mindcharity. The message is really important to me, but more will be released next week so I'll post more then. It really fights against toxic exercise culture. However, on Wednesday I went the the most amazing event, which was the launch for the campaign. We had an amazing photographer - I can't believe I saw a giant picture of myself in the Tate Modern! I met some fantastic, inspiring people, and I got to be part of a great panel at a really emotional event. I'm going to thank some people now - and I'm so sorry I can't tag everyone as I didn't catch everyone's profile! Firstly thank you to the two people who I can't find online - Hayley at Mind who has been with me every step of this journey (you're amazing), and who made all this possible, and also to our fantastic photographer Adam. Plus all the other wonderful people at Asics, Mind and @golin.lon for this wonderful experience, and all of the other wonderful people who participated in the campaign. A lovely thank you to @elmint who I spoke to briefly, and was right in my eyeline with a wonderful smile during my talk which really helped. I was nervous! Finally to @biolasarah, my co panel member, and @rach.ashe - it was so wonderful meeting you both, and you both made it a really special evening!! I had a very lovely creative day yesterday exploring Autumn's colours and shapes with watercolours. Guided by @becki_clark_ in her online (recorded, this time) nature journaling session, I had a go at painting seasonal wreaths. I had fun making several, experimenting with colour and illustration, even practising with square designs. Much of yesterday was spent in the garden, preparing it for the Winter. Peter cut the grass and I lifted the spent gladioli. We tidied the very weedy strawberry bed and potted up runners for fresh plants. We dismantled the squash and cucumber supports from the polytunnel and stored them in the workshop. I took a little creativity break from the heavy work and made this Autumn wreath for the front door. I filled my big basket with foraged seasonal foliage and berries. I didn't end up using the damsons in the end so I ate those! I used some willow cuttings to make the base and twisted the hop vines around it before securing the haws and rosehips on top. Summer of 2023 has been absolutely most horrifying around the world. There were wildfires from Canada, California to Hawaii and back. A couple of years ago there were floods in England, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. Then in 2022 streets turned into rivers also in Bangladesh and Pakistan, and years earlier in India as well. But this year floods devastated Europe again, this time eastern parts from Hungary, across Slovenia to Croatia. Earthquakes in February destroyed and left nothing but rubble in parts of Turkey and Syria, and now, since last Friday, Marocco, too, is dealing with devastation of earthquake of a great magnitude. Just yesterday we heard nothing but sad news from Libya where massive Mediterranean storm roaring through swept away two dams and caused a damage of unfathomable proportions. Now we all get the picture that speaks of tremendous tragedies, losses of lives, neighborhoods, homes, unspeakable suffering…..And no, we have not forgotten Ukraine, we are still praying for Peace. It all looks as if this is a bad, bad dream, but this bad dream is reality with which people are living with every day. It broke our hearts and crushed our souls. At one point we think we can imagine all that, but we really cannot. And it is here, that I cannot go by today without saying these words, and dedicating this piece to all and everywhere……Peace on Earth without wars, without disasters of any kind, just priceless Peace. Big cat No. 3! 🐅 Power outage continues . . . I'm running out of daylight . . . Three different sketches in a day is a lot for me. To be honest, I was intimidated by all the fur. Elephants have skin, so I haven't had to think about drawing/painting fluffs of fur. My daughter and I were joking that I should just stick to animals with skin, haha. She really wants me to paint a dolphin. 🤣 But it's time to get out of my comfort zone and grow. So here I am, drawing big cats, and I'm feeling pretty good about them. My husband Stephen always tells me he thinks my art is amazing. He's an awesome cheerleader, and the reason why I have the confidence to share my art with all of you. So it's been a while! May is always silly busy, with my birthday and usually rehearsals and shows - but I thought I'd hop on as I've just finished doing Sunshine on Leith - a great show if you ever chance to see it. It's great timing that it's mental health week. Theatre is such an outlet for me. Despite the fact its difficult, all-consuming, tiring, and all of that, there's something about bringing theatre to people that just makes you feel good about life. For me anyway. I think there is also a real place for amateur theatre at the moment. Ticket prices are going up (as is everything), so the am drams gives us a much more accessible routes into theatre. And if you're saying "but it's not as good as the professionals", let me say this... Firstly, a lot of them REALLY are excellent, but more than that, this group of people don't get paid. If anything, they pay to do this. They love it, they're passionate about it, they have to fit it around their jobs. But, and this is the big difference with professional theatre, this group of people have one chance to put this on. Our shows usually last one week, but that's differs, but I don't have to protect myself for a long show run. I have this short space of time to perform a show, so I can give absolutely everything. I don't have to protect myself, my voice, my body, etc for a long show run. I've seen so many amateurs who, yes, may not be as technically gifted as professional theatre, but I've been just as engaged and moved as they are so clearly loving everything they're doing. It's just magic to me. So, right now anyway, yes I'm missing the show, but I'm feeling pretty good. Keep well everyone.
