Today's walk. Another sunset. Reflecting off doors and fences. Even though today was beautiful, I had to fight with myself to go outside and walk. Because I've started a new exercise plan with my physical therapist, and it's really tiring me out. He told me I'd feel worse before I feel better, so I planned for it. Stripped away anything not critical so I can get over this hump. On the other side should be further healing and more energy. I just have to get through this interim period. So after a rest on the couch, that was so cozy I didn't want to leave, I went out. Am glad I did, so I could embrace nature in all its glory. And also keep moving as much as I can. Today's walk. Missing it. I missed the sunset because I was too late to catch it. Based on how the sky looked, I bet it was beautiful. I missed the future my husband and I had planned. Because he died too early. 19 years ago today, in fact. How often do we miss things because we're too late? Or too early? And when that happens, what do we do? Acknowledge the loss. Feel the grief, if it's that important. And then we keep getting up the next day and the next. Being present with the life we have now so we won't miss that too. Like me, you may be missing something or someone What you never had and wished you did. Something or someone you had and lost. A future that got hijacked. If so, I'm here. Acknowledging your loss. Your missing. I don't know about you, but the older I get, the more I understand just how much this is part of the human condition. Missing. Longing. Grieving. And that's not all there is. There's also celebrating. Loving. Laughing. Playing. Creating. Worshipping. Serving. So I'll sit with you in your pain. I'll sing with you until we're hoarse.
