West Virginia’s Spring weather ebbs and flows but it seems to have broken. On April 28th, 2024, @missuselives and I took advantage of this nice weather to go for a drive to Tucker County. We started with lunch at Hellbender Burritos. Then we passed the old coke ovens along the Douglas Highwall on the dodgy dirt road to Douglas Falls. The boulders lining the bottom of the North Fork Blackwater River along the Blackwater Canyon Trail are stained with a rich oxidized color of old copper mines. The water has a bluer color from the copper concentration. We happened to drive down the road at a good time in the spring for the blooms. When we go riding for pictures, we take a lot of them. We stay out most of the day trying to get as many as we can and then I come home, go through them all, edit, and get them ready for posting. Because I work full time and care for my mom with Alzheimer's full time too, I try to go once a week and get enough postable stuff to get me through until the next week. We cover a lot of ground and cross county lines multiple times. Last weekend we started in Ionia and headed south and west to Holland getting lots of really great stuff all along the way. This beautiful property is one of them. I can't remember where for sure, but if I had to guess I would say it's near the Kent/Ottawa County, Michigan line.
