Yesterday, the Arizona State University's Local DC program students had the opportunity to showcase their final presentations to a panel of judges. The panel included two esteemed individuals, Maria Synder and Carlton Ferguson, who provided constructive feedback to the students. The judges' presence and expertise proved invaluable in aiding the students in the final stages of the program. Each cohort has a distinct focus on career development and readiness skills in their intended field of work and study. The Academy for Civic Education and Democracy will convene its inaugural cohort this June. The 8-week summer program, held on The Ronald Reagan Institute's Washington, D.C. campus, will empower students to begin their own leadership journey with confidence and tangible experiences. During the Summer, students will immerse themselves in Washington, D.C. for a profound and experiential learning experience. Students will participate in coursework, accredited by George Washington University, that provides them with the chance to explore history both within and beyond the classroom. Every week they will interact with influential figures from diverse sectors and put their skills, knowledge, and network into practice through internships. Professional development meets cultural exploration: IWP intern 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐚 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫, alongside IWP professor 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐕𝐚𝐤𝐡𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢, explore Saudi Arabia. During her trip to Saudi Arabia, Thea participated in an executive training course on Energy Security and Energy Diplomacy led by Dr. Vakhshouri in partnership with KAPSARC. Thea's experience also included moments like horseback riding through the desert, opportunities to practice Arabic, visits to historic sites, and eating traditional Saudi Arabian food. "It was very interesting for me to see a non-Western perspective on energy security," she said. During her internship, Thea realized that she loved energy security so much that she ended up changing her focus in her undergraduate studies. #dcinternships #energysecurity
