A Story on Oil, Racism and Pollution⠀ ⠀ @tommasorada documents life and environmental racism experienced by the communities of Ilha da Maré in northeastern Brazil, directly impacted by industrial pollution. The communities living on the island are mainly Quilombola’s communities living off fishing and shellfish picking.⠀ ⠀ In 1940, oil deposits were discovered in the bay, and oil extraction wells were installed in the Bahia de Todos os Santos, the Candeia zone and in the Ilha de Maré. Most of them are still working or were active until the beginning of 2000. Studies have found high contamination rates of cadmium and lead in Ilha de Maré’s chidren, as a result from the local industries. Los ciudadanos tachirenses, pese a la globalización de los libros digitales y el bajo poder adquisitivo, siguen leyendo, por costumbre o por la necesidad de buscar un escape, un consuelo o una respuesta, pues pese a la desatención de las personas por el hábito de la lectura en años pasados, ha resurgido el interés por los libros impresos en la ciudad. Como parte de preservar la cultura de la lectura, el vendedor César Suárez, que se encuentra en el centro de la ciudad de San Cristóbal, señala que los ciudadanos están volviendo al hábito de leer libros en físico. "Los libros que más buscan son relacionados con el conocimiento del dinero, la gente tiene una adicción por el dinero"-dice con gracia-. Sobre todo las edades que ahora se ven interesadas por leer en físico son entre los 20 y 40 años. "Algunos están atrapados en internet, claro, porque ofrece algo corto, sencillo y efectivo. Pero con seguridad digo que todo el conocimiento está atrapado en los libros, son más completos, profundos y de análisis". Menciona que las personas hoy en día no están interesadas en el conocimiento, por el motivo de cubrir sus necesidades, o por el factor economía. "Los libros están en un rango de 10 a 50 mil pesos; sin embargo, considero que las personas son flojas para leer". En el caso de Jerzon Bautista, con 40 años trabajando en la venta de libros en el casco central de la ciudad, espera a los clientes con una sonrisa. "La juventud está volviendo a tomar el hábito de la lectura, porque no hay nada como leer en físico, ya que leer en el celular o la computadora cansa la vista". Señala que las ventas no son muy buenas por el bajo poder adquisitivo de los tachirenses, pero que le agrada que las personas están retomando el hábito de leer. "Antes de la pandemia, fue un poco duro, casi no se vendía, nadie está interesado en comprar libros o de leer". The written report is by Luca Rondi and Lorenzo Figoni, who carried out an investigation into the poor management and uselessness of these places. CPR are administrative detention facilities where non-EU citizens without a regular residence document or who have already received an expulsion order are detained. In the CPR, individuals who have violated an administrative provision, such as that of the necessary possession of a residence permit, are subjected to a regime of deprivation of personal liberty. 𝝚𝝫𝝪𝝘𝝚 𝝨𝝚 𝝜𝝠𝝞𝝟𝝞𝝖 𝟲𝟴 𝝚𝝩𝝮𝝢 𝝤 𝝨𝝩𝝦𝝖𝝩𝝤𝝨 𝝨𝝚𝝫𝝩𝝚𝝠𝝜𝝨 Ο Στράτος Σεφτελής έφυγε από την ζωή σήμερα (28/4) σε ηλικία 68 ετών, με την ελληνική αθλητική δημοσιογραφία να πενθεί και να γίνεται φτωχότερη. Την είδηση έκανε γνωστή ο αδελφός του, Κώστας, με ανάρτησή του στον επίσημο λογαριασμό του στο Facebook. Ο Στράτος Σεφτελής γεννήθηκε την 1η Νοεμβρίου 1955 στην Μυτιλήνη. Ξεκίνησε την δημοσιογραφική του πορεία από την εφημερίδα "Φως των Σπορ", ενώ στην συνέχεια πέρασε από την "Αθλητική Ηχώ" και αργότερα στο "Έθνος", όπου έμεινε για πάνω από 30 χρόνια. Από το 1981 εργάστηκε στην ΕΡΤ, όπου κάλυψε αμέτρητους αγώνες ποδοσφαίρου, στίβου και υγρού στίβου, παρουσιάζοντας και αθλητικές εκπομπές, ενώ υπήρξε διευθυντής αθλητικών προγραμμάτων στη δημόσια τηλεόραση από το 1993 έως το 1998.
