Masjid Uthman ibn Affan (aka Islamic Society of Mid Manhattan) on 55th Street between Lexington Ave & 3rd Ave is an oasis in the area. Its congregants are always friendly and the community has its own vibrancy. The masjid being named after the son-in-law of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم and the third Caliph of Islam, Sayyiduna Uthman رضى الله عنه holds special significance, especially in Ramadan. This is the month of the Quran and Uthman (May God be pleased with him) was known for his attachment, devotion, and knowledge of the Quran. It was during his reign that the copies of the Quran was disseminated to all parts of the Muslim world. In fact, he was reciting the very verse “Allah is Sufficient for you and for the believers who follow you” (8:64) from his copy of the Quran (which still exists today) when he was martyred in 656 CE. He was also fasting at the time as we are doing in these days. Hazrat Usman Gani (RadiAllahuAnhu)- Third Khalifa of Islam 💚✨ Hazrat Usman رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه was a very pious companion and aman of high character.He was the most Bashful of All the companions of Prophet Muhammadﷺ The Mother of Believers Hazrat Aysha رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰعنها narrates: Prophet Muhammadﷺ was lying one day in my apartment with thighs or (shanks) exposed.Then Hazrat Abu Bakr رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه came and sought permission to enter and the Prophet Muhammadﷺ bade him come in ,in that very state of his Abu Bakr رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه came in and spoke to him and having his need fulfilled , went back. Then Hazrat Umar رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه came and sought permission to enter and Prophet Muhammadﷺ permitted him to enter while he was in that state. Hazrat Umar رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه entered and spoke to Prophet Muhammadﷺ and having his need fulfilled .went back. Then Hazrat Usman Ghani رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه came sought permission to enter whereupon Prophet Muhammadﷺ sat up . straightened his clothing and then let him enter. Hazrat Usman رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه came in and spoke to Prophet Muhammadﷺ. After he had gone I spoke to Prophet Muhammadﷺ :"Abu Bakr رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه came in and you neither sat up nor show any anxiety (with regard to dressing) and Umar رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه came in and you neither sat up nor show any anxiety.But When Hazrat Usman Ghani رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰ عنه came in you straightened your clothing? السلام عليك يا عثمان.. اسلام عليك يا ذا النورين.. السلام عليك يا حبيب رسول الله.. عن عائشة، قالت : " كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم مضطجعا في بيته كاشفا عن ساقه ، فاستأذن أبو بكر وهو على تلك الحال ، ثم استأذن عمر ، فأذن له وهو كذلك ، ثم يحدث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، واستأذن عثمان ، فجلس رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، وسوى ثيابة ، فدخل ، فلما خرج قالت عائشة : يا رسول الله ، دخل أبو بكر , فلم تهش له ، ولم تناجه ، ودخل عثمان ، فجلست وسويت ثيابك ، فقال : " ألا أستحي من رجل تستحي منه الملائكة " ❤❤❤❤ `Aisha reported: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was lying in the bed in my apartment with his thigh uncovered and Abu Bakr sought permission to enter. It was given to him and he conversed in the same very state (the Prophet's thigh or shank uncovered). Then `Umar sought permission for entering and it was given to him and he conversed in that very state. Then `Uthman sought permission to enter; Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sat down and he set right his clothes. Muhammad (one of the narrators) said: I do not say that it happened on the same day. He (`Uthman) then entered and conversed and as he went out, `Aisha said: Abu Bakr entered and you did not stir and did not observe much care (in arranging your clothes), then `Umar entered and you did not stir and did not arrange your clothes, then `Uthman entered and you got up and set your clothes right, so he (ﷺ) said: Should I not show modesty to one whom even the Angels show modesty. 💕❤ ......
