Thirteen years ago I remember being so excited to be able to tell my family and friends that I had been part of the amazing Royal School of Needlework team to make the embellishment for the wedding dress, veil and shoes for Prince William and Katherine Middleton’s wedding. All these years on, it is still an absolute highlight and honour. There are certain events I get to speak at and I walk away pinching myself to make sure I was awake and that was really me doing the MOST! This morning was one of those. It was an absolute #honour to #serve as panel moderator and keynote in ballroom full of Principals, VPs, Superintendents, Trustees and Directors. I have had to pinch myself a few times over the last five years. In those moments I am reminded that I am prepared for this part of my journey. I am ready. I am able. I am capable. I bring the goods. Honour by Elif Shafak Genre: Literary Fic Pages: 342 Stars: 2.75 🌟 I am clearly in the minority on this one, but this book left me cold. I struggled to keep up with all the different characters in the first third to half of the book. I wish there had been a family tree at the back of the book as we jumped through so many different generations at times I found myself lost. I felt like huge parts of peoples lives were just skipped over. Pembe and Jamila have 7 sisters, and yet we know nothing about any of them apart from one, the oldest. They never mentioned them or corresponded with them in any way. We seem to spend far more time getting to know Yunnus than we do Iskender and no time at all really on Esme. I don't really understand why Yunnus was so detailed. Also there was no real build-up to the killing. We don't get to feel any of the horror from either his side or Pembe's.
