Just before the end of Round Pen Session 1 - the #4 colt sure wanted to be tough to start, but we ended in a really good spot and I really love this colt! He was quite stand- offish, not afraid he is actually a brave colt, but didn’t want to have any conversation with me. Once we got through that, things really started moving for us! I always say “the good ones have a little fire in the boiler”. That sometimes isn’t what you want in a competition with limited time, but this colt is on his way to a really bright, really great future! You can’t stay there When I ask a horse to cross over any obstacle that makes them nervous I take it slow and just want them to try and be willing. Usually, if they are trying, they will sniff it or stretch one foot forward. I release/reward them for that one foot. When they realize that’s the right answer they will continue to give that one foot over and over again, which is great but at some point they need to give you two feet, then three, then all four so that we can cross what’s in front of us. They can’t stay there just giving me one foot I have to increase pressure so that they will move and accomplish our goal. We cannot stay where we are and expect to grow, change, or get through the obstacles in our life. Sometimes the pressures of life increases requiring us to take action. Is God telling you that you can’t stay there anymore? Is he asking you to give Him more of you? That it’s time to move forward into all that He has for you even if it’s going to be hard? . The Diamond-McNabb Ranch Horse Sale is a wrap! It was fun to watch the 14 year old fall into her element so easily. She helped Carly (Balance in Training) for three days with really long hours: getting back to the hotel after 9:30pm each night and leaving at either 6:30am or 7:30 am each morning. She was a natural at talking to people interested in Picasso and Rustic. And the horses (who are good buddies) went for really nice prices to the same person on the Western Slope in CO. The auction itself was fascinating and exciting to watch.
