Our business started as a record label in 1993 and has since expanded into 3 locations, including Philadelphia and West Chester (where the label originated). 4. For Earth Day 2024, we're remembering one of Chester County's pioneering natural scientists! Graceanna Lewis (1821 - 1912) was a nationally recognized natural scientist in her lifetime. She was well versed in ornithology (the white-edged Oriole is named in her honor, Icterus graceannae). Her science training at Kimberton Boarding School for Girls also included botany, another long-term interest. The Chester County History Center was honored to accept an Institutional Achievement Award from the Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Historical Organizations for its "Celebrating Juneteenth: Commemorating African American History" programs in 2023. Accepting the award was Jennifer Green, CCHC's Director of Education. Among the programs for which CCHC was nominated included walking tours of African American history throughout the borough of West Chester, the genealogy program "From Whence We Came: Finding Black Ancestors in Historical Records," and an evening celebrating civil rights leader Bayard Rustin. Tell me about your business and what makes it unique. Double Diamond Tattoos has been located in Downtown West Chester since 2008. We host a bunch of artists with different styles to accommodate just about any tattoo design you have in mind! 2. What services or products do you offer? Every artist at our studio has a different style and specialty. Will Pollock (@casketbuddy) specializes in Color Realism and Abstract Color tattoos, John Black (@johnblacktat2) specializes in Black and Grey Realism as well as Color Realism, Rachel Rush (@rachelrushtattoos) is our go-to for fine line and smaller tattoos, and I (@dr.drewtat2) specialize in Black and Grey Realism. 3. What do you love most about being located in West Chester? Since West Chester is my hometown, this was my first pick when looking to open a studio. Lately, West Chester has become known for its tattoo scene, adding to its reputation as an art-centric town. Plus, the historic buildings create such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. 4. What can you tell me about the culture or atmosphere of your business? We have always approached the tattooing atmosphere differently than most shops. We want to make you feel like we are all hanging out while creating beautiful art, rather than just being in someone’s chair to make money. At our studio, you’ll find TVs on every wall, showing movies around the clock. Plus, there’s always lively conversation flowing between our artists and clients during tattoo sessions. 5.
