Round 2 at Salt and Straw with massive Pro-Scooping of a few San Francisco Flavors! _______ Salted Malted Chocolate Cookie Dough- If You Know, You know Strawberry Tres Leches- Rich Strawberry Ice Cream swirled with lightly spiced cinnamon sponge cake soaked in condensed milk, evaporated milk and whole milk finished off with a bright strawberry vanilla jam! Such a great strawberry flavor and the jam gives it a little more tartness! Mt. Tam Cheese with Toasted ACME Bread- Cow Girl Creamery’s Mt. Tam Cheese blended in their base with swirls of sour cherry apricot jam and Toasted Fruit and Walnut Bread That is candied to stay fresh in ice cream. The cheese ice cream tastes like brie, and the sour cherry swirl is perfect to counterbalance the funkiness. The toasted bread adds a nice texture element to it. The use of local products to showcase other business is one thing I love with this company. _______ While I was pretty underwhelmed with the Elementary school series for this city, you can always count on some bangin classics from their lineup! Had the pleasure of visiting the famous Bi-Rite Creamery! ________ Strawberry Balsamic- Fresh Strawberry with a hint of balsamic! While it tasted good, the texture was off for me and it’s not as smooth and creamy as the others scooped B-Day Cake- Cake Batter Ice Cream, sprinkles and chocolate cake pieces! One of the best birthday cake flavors I’ve ever tried and it’s one of the seasonals. Perfect amount of sweetnesses with the moist cake pieces. Ricanelas- Cinnamon Ice Cream with Snickerdoodle Chunks. Snickerdoodles were fantastic in this one and the ice cream complements it! Peach Cobbler- Vanilla Ice Cream with peach cobbler folded in! Great vanilla ice cream and 0 iciness on the fruity part. When you go to a Salt and Straw city, you gotta go! Ended up with only 2 from the 4th grade series this month and I had to scoop some classics! ________ Zucchini Bread W/ Chocolate Flecks- Very interesting one. Lots of zucchini bread and it’s heavy on the cloves. It oddly pairs with the chocolate! This one was one of last month’s flavor from the Vegetable series! Ubetastic: Ice Cream: “First blend up some ube with 1/4 teaspoon of sugar. Add milk after blended well. Then add in marshmellows. After that do whatever you do to make ice cream. When you serve it, sprinkle some sugar on top.” Is exactly what you get. It’s ube halaya in ice cream form with mini marshmallows. Salt and Straw does marshmallows so well I didn’t really mind it. Dandelion Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies and Cream: One of the best vegan ice creams I’ve ever had. The Hazelnut aspect masked the coconut so well with the delicious Dandelion Chocolate Ice Cream! High quality chocolate makes a difference! Then the cookie sandwiches are great mixins of course. Strawberry Mango Milk Bun- “The Strawberry Mango Milk bun ice cream flavor is something you have never experienced before. The taste of the Milk bun just melts in your mouth and the straw berry Mango really top it off! Ingredients: Ice cream!!!!!, strawberries (mashed), Mango (bite sized chunks), Mango juice, Milkbuns (bite sized chunks), Secret ingredient: Waffle chunks (shhhh!)” The best one out of the Elementary school series in San Francisco. Base is mango forward and the swirl brings it over the top. Their fruit swirls are always amazing! Waffle chunks are crunchy and buttery and it worked well!
