Just keep climbing… Recent Duluth trip brought me back to Enger Tower and Enger Park to take in a cool view of all of Duluth harbor. Standing high above Duluth and built in 1939, Enger Tower is an 80 foot structure constructed of National Blue Stone from the region and offers 180° view of Duluth. 105 steps will get you to the top. ⬆️ Sitting on a site once called Grand Mountain and built on land purchased with money donated by West End furniture dealer Bert Enger, Enger Tower and Enger Park are must-sees if you’re headed up that way. Views, tables, grills, trails, climbing, birding, restrooms. Open seasonally, this is a great place to check out next time you’re in (or through) Duluth! Last post of our Duluth trip from Monday! On the grounds at Enger Tower is a large multi-area Garden. It includes a Japanese Garden and Peace Bell, Zen Garden with a rock river, pavilions and benches overlooking the city, and is home to beautiful flowering trees and 200 different species of plants and flowers! It was nice to find an area we hadn’t seen before. We walked around the flowers, stood on the rocks and watched the ships coming in, and our daughter went up and rang the peace bell. Increased costs means that Duluth won't reopen its Lester Park golf course; rather it will focus all of its efforts on a renovation project for the 27-hole Enger Park golf complex. Seems like it will mostly be necessary infrastructure improvements.

Enger Tower is an 80-foot, five-story stone observation tower atop Enger Hill in Duluth, Minnesota. It was built as a tribute to businessman and philanthropist, Bert Enger (1864-1931). Enger was a Norwegian immigrant who first ran an unsuccessful business in Pine City, but later found success in Duluth as a furniture seller. Enger bequeathed a sizable portion of his estate to the city of Duluth. This included the land known as Enger Hill which includes Enger Park and Enger Golf Course.
