Spent today out with @urbansketcherslondon painting in Hampstead. Four hours in pouring rain under my enormous umbrella and of course the sun came out at 3.30 once we had all finished but it was a lot of fun. I painted the @thewellshampstead pub from some gardens across the road - i enjoyed the blue umbrellas on the street. | Western Yellow Wagtail - Bergeronette Printanière ( Motacilla Flava ) | Espèce migratrice, elle est présente dans la vallée de Sallanches / Passy durant quelques mois du printemps à l'été pour la période de reproduction avant de reprendre son envol vers le sud de l'Espagne ou en Afrique Subsaharienne. La bergeronette printanière est très polymorphe puisqu'il existe pas moins de 10 sous espèces, la type "flava" occupe l'Europe continentale tempérée jusqu'à l'Oural. C'est elle qui niche très majoritairement en France. Le mâle adulte nuptial "flava" a le dessus et les côtés de la tête gris de cendre, le menton et la gorge jaune-renoncule. Un net sourcil blanc court du bec à la nuque. An image from my book Making Silk Flowers. It’s a study of a rose growing in my garden whose life began as a white cultivated rose which i never liked. Happily it has reverted to it’s wild beginnings. The pink colour is vibrant and the open shape means that it is perfect for visiting pollinators.
