FILIPINO FILM SCREENING IN LISBON! In celebration of the Southeast Asian Day festival, the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is screening Lauren Faustino's "Ang Babae sa Likod ng Mambabatok" (2012) on May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal. The film unravels the multiple layers of the almost mythological figure-living legend, Fang Od, a 92 year old woman who has been called the "Last Traditional Tattoo Artist of Kalinga." In line with the FDCP’s efforts to promote Philippine Cinema internationally, the Philippine Embassies Assistance Program (PEAP) aims to support Philippine Embassies and Consulates to organize film-related cultural activities for Filipinos based abroad. #PEAP #FDCP

In light of the Philippines’ designation as the Guest of Honor at Frankfurt Book Fair (FBF) 2025, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) discussed cross-media partnerships with the FBF, National Book Development Board (NBDB), and local guilds and organizations on April 23 at Casino Español de Manila. The meeting was attended by representatives from the FDCP, FBF, NBDB, Directors’ Guild of the Philippines, Inc. (DGPI), Entertainment Producers of the Philippines (EPOP), Filipino Screenwriters Guild, Creative Content Creators Association of the Philippines (SIKAP), Philippine Independent Producers Group, and the Office of Senator Loren Legarda. As the world’s largest book fair, the FBF is a significant platform for the Philippines to showcase the best of national literature and culture, including films, digital and printed content, and cross-media adaptations. The country will be given the opportunity to collaborate with international publishing markets for the production, translation, and export of Philippine literature and content to more than 4,000 exhibitors from 100 countries. #FDCP #FrankfurtBookFair

THE PHILIPPINES GOES TO THE 26TH FAR EAST FILM FESTIVAL! In line with the Film Development Council of the Philippines' (FDCP) mission to promote Filipino cinema globally, the agency is leading the Philippine delegation to the Far East Far East Film Festival (FEFF), in Udine, Italy from April 24 to May 2. Competing in the festival lineup are three (3) Filipino films: Jun Lana's "Becky and Badette," Kevin Mayuga's "When this is All Over," and Samantha Lee's "Rookie." Additionally, the Restored Classics section will showcase works of acclaimed Filipino filmmakers Mike De Leon's "Third World Hero," and National Artist for Film Lino Brocka's "White Slavery." In Focus Asia 2024, Nikolas Red's "Posthouse” will participate in the All Genres Project Market to explore Asian and European co-production and funding opportunities, while Antoinette Jadaone's "Sunshine" is part of the Far East in Progress, a platform for projects in post-production may look for international distributors and festival premieres. Filipino Journalist Alyssandra Maxine will be representing the Philippines in the FEFF Campus, an educational project dedicated to young journalists to learn about film journalism, interview techniques, and media success strategies.
