I’ve been sitting on this one for awhile. Actually, it’s time to fess up about some personal goings on with me. I’ve hurt my right shoulder, lots of pain and it may mean that I won’t be throwing for a long, long time. But I do have many pots to show you that I haven’t posted before. Like this one. It’s an altered vase. It’s over 7” tall and I really liked it without glaze. I used 2# of Porcelain and topped it off with our basic red from the studio. As I wrote I like this because it is a departure from my one piece jars. It is reduction fired Cone10. This bowl was in development for quite a while as I was thinking through and testing different surface textures and deciding which areas were going to get which glazes. Ending up with an Ammonite-esc result I was quite happy with it!
Here is a little play on contrast in colors and textures in a mug form. I like how the line of glaze connects the top and the bottom of the mug cutting through the texture of the body.

Copper Red! It’s always a pleasure to open up a kiln and see that the copper red did what it was supposed to as it likes to be defiant sometimes. I especially enjoy how the glaze breaks over the slip textures added to this bowl. My best result of the red over texture to date!

I only made 3 gravy boats last year, and they were the only 3 I’ve ever made for that matter. This was the best of the bunch. Though it was very fun to make I don’t plan to carry a supply of these alongside my other work however I would be happy to offer them as a made-to-order item. Three cheers for repeat customers! Glenda has purchased a least one illustrated dragon pot every year I've done Septemberfest. This year she scored a garden sake set and my repaired dragon. The repaired dragon is a unique piece, as it is from much earlier in my dragon making career. It had been broken and this year I learned kintsugi and repaired it. It's a fun time capsule of my work where it was purely a dragon on a pot.
