One of my favorite parts about having locs is when people tell me my texture is 🔥🔥🔥 and it’s weird cause I never got that when I was natural. ✨Traditional vs Micro Locs✨ Not my usual post, but I wanted to share 😊. I've always had a fascination for locs. So much I've done them on myself. I'm not into all the super detailed stuff when it comes to parting and keeping my locs perfect, so traditional locs were for me (smaller photo). I've started them many times with my first set lasting 3.5 years before cutting them due to bleach and color damage. My last set of traditional locs lasted me only 2 years (smaller photo) because they were giving me the worst headaches in the first trimester of pregnancy. They were putting a lot of tension on my scalp tho they weren't really heavy, but I needed the headaches to stop. So I decided to comb them out 😵💫. It took me 6 days to do it. Started on the 15th of October and finished the 21st of October last year. While combing them out, I installed 'diy-microlocs' and as of today I am 3 months 😄. While I love the look, the struggle is a lot different than traditional locs. Cons: - my hair and scalp are dryer - braiding and banding while washing does not allow me to wash my locs and scalp fully - the itch after a retie is terrible 😩 - keeping my hair moisturized is a struggle and let's not mention the shrinkage 😑 - there is some shedding and breakage - don't know whether to keep it stretched or let it stay shrunken However!!!! Pros: - my hair is lighter, fuller, and fluffier (no more headaches!) - my hair is locking up at a decent rate - I don't mind the retie sessions (I just watch a movie or 2 and complete my sections) - loving my curly ends - I've had no slippage or had to reinstall any of my 313 locs - styling is a breeze 😁 - dries pretty fast - keeping it stretched, but curly is best (larger photo) I have a love and hate relationship with this new set of locs, but I'm sure they'll look a lot different by 6 months 😆.
