I spied this metal drain cover from the window but I wasn’t steady enough on my feet to get out of the car to take it. I asked C to do it for me, though I’m giving him 100% credit because he framed it entirely differently than I would have. He spotted a detail, considered the composition and zoomed right in. Unconscious inspiration............. This is a protective sign I chalked on our house today in response to something shared by a fellow student in today’s #DACC #diplomainartandcontemporarycraft #westdeancollege #onlineteaching #sharingprocess As part of today’s brief I was inspired by the student’s image of an apotropeic mark, created hundreds of years in the past to protect a household #folkmagic So I drew my own mark on our house to protect us from the high winds that buffet our house from the south in bad weather. The 🔲 represents the house, the ➖➖➖ are the winds hitting the house, and the 🔘 is the household safe inside. Now, looking through photos I took of road markings in the village yesterday I can see a direct connection.
