I haven’t posted here in a min…lots going on behind the scenes, but I had to emerge specifically to honor, respect, and give love to one of my biggest inspirations. Happy birthday, Frankie Knuckles. I’ve shared many wonderful moments with him on this planet over the years but there was one time in particular when I was booked by Van Roy to share the bill with Frankie, (on what would end up being one of the last parties) at the legendary Paramount Nightclub in SantaFe NM of all places. I rarely ask for an autograph, but I bought this 12 inch my senior year in HS and it really resonated with me so deeply so I had to have an imprinted by him. Afterwards he gave me one of his signature bear hugs, and a kiss on the cheek. I’m grateful for existing on this planet at the same time as him and I am the DJ I am today in part because of his influence. Thanks Frankie. Frankie put a group of us in one hotel, like @mannyward 😍, John Brown (miss you so JB!) and others.. and we all became fast friends and were beyond excited to be there! This was a huge deal!! Every event led up to the big day and I’ll never forget press being there from all over the world to cover it. Made possible by the City of Chicago and then senator @barackobama, this was a defining moment for our brother and the house music community. I’m forever grateful, but even more so for Frankie’s dear friendship and guidance over the years 🙏🫶 I know he’s looking over me and us!! 1. Frankie and me in Santa Fe 2. The program for the event and dedication of Frankie Knuckles Way at the corner of Jefferson & Adams and site of the Warehouse, the club where house music got its name. 3. Back of program 4.
