Well hello, and how is it Friday again already?! That means it must be #FrenchInspirationFriday, yay! ❤️ So I have a small confession to make. We couldn't resist a trip to our local #Brocante this week, and literally came back with a car load...! 😂 I know how much you all love #Vintage and collectable #FrenchTreasures, so I decided to just snap them as they are, where they landed in our hall. Aren't they all divine? 🥰 We particularly adore the cow salt and pepper shakers! They are especially appropriate as we live in a converted dairy in La Corréze, which is a French départment that is otherwise known as 'Cow-rez' because we are right in the heart of the French cattle farming region! 🐄 🐄 I also couldn't resist adding some snapdragons from the front garden. The front flower border was only created last spring with new seedlings 🌷 and while they were utterly lovely last year, this year ‘c’est une croissance vachement !´ Did you spot the French cow pun there?! If not, see the comments! 👇 The cabinet is a vintage bedroom washstand and storage combination. Wondering if it would have been for a gentleman’s dressing room or a lady's #Boudoir? Any ideas Helen @quintessentiallyfrench ? As you can see in the third picture, the top flips up to reveal a mirror and a marble wash stand. Sadly it's been badly broken at some point, so we will have to see if we can #restore it 🤞 if so, that'll be a future video over on YouTube – if you aren't subscribed yet the link is in the bio, you don't want to miss out! #MirrorMirror on the wall... who's the fairest of them all? Well, clearly that'll be our gorgeous pair of antique #FrenchMirrors! Originally over mantle mirrors from a very grand chateau, the two mirrors needed to be hung up to keep them safe. However, the walls have been insulated, so we needed to add fixings underneath the plaster board so the mirrors can be hung safely, and also without damaging the plaster once the walls are plastered. Нынешняя ситуация в мире внесла свои коррективы, что неизбежно сказалось и на моей профессиональной деятельности последних лет, но где закрывается одна дверь - непременно открывается другая ✊🏻. 1930s Primavera ad from vintage French magazine Plaisir de France. Design firm Primavera was established in 1912 by René Guilleré, founder the of the Society of Decorative Artists, and Pierre Laguionie, manager of the Parisian department store Le Printemps. It designed and produced beautiful, modern decorative pieces for the home. By the 1920s it was famous for its Art Deco designs, particularly in ceramics and glass. 🌹🌹 I am really surprised that this splendid set of vintage French ceramic canisters has not yet sold! 🌹🌹 They could be a last minute Mother's Day gift. The containers are so pretty with their hand-stencilled, reddy-pink and green roses, creamy-beige grounds, great label fonts, handled lids and little bases. So cute and practical too! There are four canisters in graduating sizes, starting with the smallest they are THÈ (tea), FARINE (flour), CAFÈ (coffee) and SUCRE (sugar). No backstamps but each has a different impressed mould number from 852 to 855. Measurements (approx): THÈ (tea): 14cm high x 7cm wide x 6.5cm deep FARINE (flour): 16.5cm high x 8cm wide x 7cm deep CAFÈ (coffee): 18.5cm high x 10cm wide x 9.5cm deep SUCRE (sugar): 20cm high x 10cm wide x 9cm deep In excellent vintage condition without cracks, chips or restorations. No crazing. Just some wear / minor staining. One has minor staining inside at the bottom. There are a few minor rough spots which occurred during production. (Let me know if you'd like photos of the rest of the interiors.) If you would like them to grace your kitchen or dining room, they could be yours for sale price of 40 GBP plus postage.
