Obligatory end of year reflection incoming... 2023 has been quite a whirlwind! The pic is from one of my car highlights this year - driving @lexusguildford LC500 V8 convertible to @fosgoodwood - shame about the awful weather. But what else have I been up to? Working in the NHS every hour I can spare to save up for my new course, attending interviews for the course and getting offers, changing jobs half way through the year, desperately trying to make content and then starting the course. I won't lie, it feels insane to be a full-time university student again (both good and bad)... I do really miss making content often, my life is incredibly busy and structured now and there's little time for my obsession with cars or my need for the artistic freedom and expression that comes with content creation. However, this was my choice and I am embracing it and getting a distinction in my first exam. I've been regularly uploading shorts to my youtube channel, so feel free to use the link in my video to give them a watch. As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I may not be uploading anymore video content for a while, possibly even a year. Lockdown stopped everyone in their tracks and it reminded me, while I love making car content, medicine and healthcare is where I find most of my fulfillment...which is why I decided to return to that industry in 2020 and why I've devided to start a new type of medical degree to take my career further (hence why I won't have the time to make content for a while). I've been making content since 2014. It was an experiment to begin with, as I saw other youtube channels seemingly having a lot of success from filming fancy cars on the streets of London. I may only have 40,500 subs and 15,500,500 views, but what started as mobile phone car videos somehow enabled me to start working directly with main car dealerships, independent companies, massive events and then the actual car companies themselves. Pointing my Galaxy S10+ at supercars in London somehow ended up being my job for about 2 years and included being invited to Rolls-Royce HQ to film multiple vehicles, it got my channel featured in a Discovery+ TV show (and credited), it enabled me to get full press accreditation to 4 huge automotive events in the UK and EU, it enabled me to test, drive and film cars that I could only dream of experiencing and gave me the push to go on amazing adventures. The power of social media and hard work truly is astonishing. And so I want to thank everyone that has supported me and every brand, company and event I've worked with, it's been 1 hell of a ride. I'm sure I'll still post the occasional story on here, but that'll most likely be it... Just back from an awesome 4 day road trip around Wales, where I explored: the Mach Loop, Harlech and Harlech Beach, Pont Pen Y benglog, the Menai Bridge and Château Rhianfa. Wales is a fantastic country to visit regardless of Covid, so I sincerely encourage anyone to visit and the roads are generally superb so make for a thoroughly enjoyable driving experience 🏴💯 My little Z4 3.0SI Sport Coupe also really surprised me. *Update* Hello everyone, I hope you're all keeping well and looking after yourselves during this challenging time. Those who have been following me for a while may have seen quite a significant reduction in content due to the covid situation. Before I was able to upload at least 4 videos a month, now I am only managing 1. This reduction is mainly due to car dealerships being closed and legal restrictions on travel. However, as everything begins to open up I have been able to film here and there so do have around 5 videos waiting to be released over the coming months. Unfortunately my upload rate might reduce even further as I am preparing for a very big exam at the end of the summer. I'm in a stage of my life now where I can't afford to mess it up and as YouTube hasn't been as profitable as I had hoped it now needs to become secondary to other things. I hope you all understand. My next video will be an in-depth tour of a Mclaren 765LT, after that I will hopefully release part 4 of my car's improvement series and after that an in-depth video of the new GR Yaris. Tom from TKDetailing spent 6 hours rejuvenating my 2008 BMW Z4 3.0 SI Sport Coupe's aged paint, wheels and windows that have been neglected for the last 10 years. Yes, the car has been washed at garages, but it hasn't seen anything this intensive in the last decade and potentially not since it was brand new.
