Just got my hands on the long-awaited Hori Grip for the PS Vita, so I took my trusty white Vita out for a test run—and it didn’t disappoint! I forgot to mention, I finished Gravity Rush/Daze last week! I’d say this is a, slightly above average experience. To start off, yes, it is a 12 YEAR OLD GAME. Yet, it stood tall for what it was. A game about interesting gravity shifting mechanics. I somehow, got the hang of the controls and would deem them, quite satisfying, especially if you think of the time period this game was made. The story is a bit, lackluster (to say at the very least). Combat was a bit “iffy” as well. My expectations for this game were not very high (it’s an old game). Yet, I’d say they performed enough. It was nothing too special, but it did have a wonderful mechanic that I still feel is very underutilized. The characters were a bit drab as well. Nothing too flashy, nor too much narrative. Explanations of what is going on we’re very, seldom. Overall, I’d warrant this game a 6.3/10. It’s whole shtick carried it, very little narrative, combat felt jank, but it did have good music & its comic book storytelling was unique. Regardless, if you’d like to test a unique mechanic, I’d recommend checking this game out for an hour or two. 07/04/2024 - 13/04/2024 Last week I played: Final Fantasy VII (PSX) - Not had a ton of time to play this week but finished in the Temple of the Ancients and now doing the Wutai sidequest before carrying on to catch up with Aeris before everything continues to be absolutely fine and no incredibly iconic scenes happen. I have to be honest, I've not been a huge fan of Yuffie ever since unlocking her, so while I'm sure this sidequest will flesh her character out a bit, I don't feel too bad about almost never using her seeing as it seems up to this point she's not taken any interest in what's going on and was just waiting for an opportunity to rob us. Gravity Rush Remastered (PS4) - Finished the story and DLC missions. Not going for the Platinum as I can't be bothered getting a gold medal on all the side challenges, especially the combat/stasis focused ones. Thought the story's climax and resolution was a bit weird as well. As much as I mostly liked how almost nothing in the lore actually gets explained, it still feels a bit strange to end without Kat actually learning anything about her past or abilities, and I didn't really like the message that the dystopian fascist government that took over during the time jump were mostly bad because they're incompetent. Saving the city is nice and all but I don't feel like justice was actually served - I mean, Kat still lives in a sewer pipe even though she's the famous Gravity Queen who prevented a catastrophic disaster. Still, make no mistake, this is a really fun game and the sort of thing I really like playing every now and again - a short experience with a central mechanic that they make the absolute most of. 31/03/2024 - 06/04/2024 Last week I played: Gravity Rush Remastered (PS4) - Surprised it's taken me so long to get to this. Gravity Rush was a game/series that always intrigued me during my PlayStation hiatus of the last couple of generations so better late than never. I think I'm nearly done with it, just not yet at time of writing, but it's a pretty good time so far! It's impressive how they managed to make actual level design in what is effectively a platformer with a fly button; it would have been so easy to make exploring the different parts of town completely pointless but they avoided that trap pretty well. Not a huge fan of the combat though. Feels like the only move that makes sense in a game like this is the gravity kick so every fight is just aiming at a weak point, pressing square, and hoping it doesn't turn its back on you by the time you get there. Borderlands 2 (Xbox One) - Continuing the split-screen campaign I started with a friend a little while ago. Kind of forgot how much of the middle part of the game is just collecting characters from the first game, and we just got to the point I recall being particularly bland. Still a fundamentally satisfying game and I still have some intention to give BL3 a go one of these days. Portal 2 (Xbox 360) - If Borderlands is a bit brain-dead for you, there's nothing like Portal to set you the other way. If you love these games like I do, I highly recommend finding someone who's never played them and taking them through the co-op early stages. The moment of realisation of how portals work is incredibly gratifying to see happen in real life, and these stages are so well-designed that you only really need one player to have prior game knowledge to have a pretty comfortable time, at least for the beginning stages. Hoy os enseño el que para mi es el mejor juego de largo de Psvita, una aventura original, con una mecánica única que sorprende. Tal vez al principio el control te pueda resultar algo extraño pero cuando lo dominas es muy gratificante. Aunque salió un Port/remaster para PS4 y su continuación, el juego está pensando para ser jugado en Vita y eso se nota mucho.
