Studio life lately... I’ve charged my batteries after the collection release, scrubbed my studio, and I’m already planning the rest of my year. I’ve noticed that working on a full collection at once suits me well; it helps me stay in the flow and balance my work rhythm. I won’t launch a new collection of originals on canvases before the end of this year, so what you see on my website is what I’ll have available for a while. But this summer/fall, I’m aiming to (finally) release prints. I also have a series of originals on paper coming this summer. In just one hour, I’ll be sending out the early access code for my latest collection, ’The Sunset Series,’ exclusively to my email list. This Spring has been intense, but it’s rewarding to see all the emotions and goals I’ve put into each day come to fruition. This collection is dedicated to my grandmother, who passed away suddenly this spring. She adored warmth and made it a yearly ritual to flee the Finnish winter cold under the Spanish sun. During those months of her absence, we used to write each other letters, and I looked forward to the day in May when she returned home for the summer. She dedicated her life to teaching crafts, and I’ve always believed that I inherited my passion for creating from her. Painting and working on this collection has helped me navigate through the different stages of grief and even find joy and light this spring. Official launch for the collection is tomorrow, April 30th at 5pm (EEST). Thank you for being there! ❤️

Exploring the Design Museum Arabia on the eighth floor was a highlight of my trip. Morning Coffee Table • Iiris Moisio The inspiration for making the Morning Coffee Table stemmed from the idea of creating something different, something that doesn’t even look like a table. The Morning Coffee Table is hand-carved into its organic shape from solid birch glued wood. A circle the size of a coffee cup forms the only flat surface, the tabletop, on the organic shape. Aisa chair • Tatu Laakso A combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary furniture design in a form of a solid wood chair. Aisa, a shaft for Finnish takes inspiration from traditional wood crafted utensils. The sculptural cnc- machined parts are joined with mortise-tenon joints. Furthermore the structure features a special “self tightening” wedged dovetail joinery that is exposed on the seat top. The name void comes from the big opening in the table, and it’s meant to preserve your belongings. Quad • Emilia Heikkinen Quad is an innovative corner light fixture that utilizes the illusion, provided by a mirror. The main part of the light, the mirroring back piece, is crafted from a polished stainless steel panel with a waterjet cutter and bent at a precise 90-degree angle. The pre-cut shape and holes enable the attachment pieces to go through the panel, minimizing the need for welding and so preserving the mirroring effects. Through the optical illusion created by the mirrored surface, Quad achieves the visual impression of a fully formed lamp while utilizing only a quarter of the material typically required. Lelli stool •Agnes Laszlo The Lelli stool explores the limits of the material flexibility of birch plywood and intends to create a harmonic balance between a low-to-the ground sitting position and a feeling of elevation, and at the same time it promotes lightness and mobility. Stability and comfort is reached with minimal anchor points touching the ground, leaving room for air to flow. The shape was inspired by the traditional and widespread “small stool” (in hungarian: kisszék) typology in the former Eastern Bloc, which are typically characterized by being made of solid wood and being sturdy. With a refreshed approach I explored new potentialities of the old typology. Lelli stool consists of four parts that are assembled by joinery and can be easily disassembled and carried.
