All I can say is WOW! Today was my event TEE up with Type 1. I don't have the words to express my feelings. When I came up with this idea, I thought it might be attended by my family, and that would be about it, we all gotta start somewhere, am I right? But I am BLOWN away at how the Type 1 community comes together time and time again to support those living with Type 1 Diabetes. Every person pictured has a loved one living with Type 1 or are Type 1 themselves. Today, I got to share with them how hard I have been working on my platform #BeTheOne. I had several people come up to me today and share their experiences with bullying and Type 1. That's why I do what I do and why I advocate for those living with Type 1. So that they don't have to be alone and they know they have someone in their corner fighting for them and others living with medical conditions every day. I was awarded the Renaissance Award and Best Work Ethic in Current Events and PE at my school’s awards night. The Current Events award is especially for Mr. Sam Raney! I have been working with him for over a year to prep for interviews and part of my training is keeping up with current events. Thanks to Mr. Raney, I knew I had to take this class! I wanted to come on here and take a little bit of your time to formally introduce my platform, Read To Lead. It come to my attention that I have yet to do that, so I apologize. My platform, Read To Lead, all started in July of 2023. I traveled to Dollywood for the very first time, and I also visited the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. I started to become more involved in pageantry and needed to create a platform that I was passionate about. I have always had a love of reading, so I needed something to jump start my platform. I fell in love with what Dolly was doing with the Imagination Library, so I signed up to become an ambassador. Since becoming an ambassador, I’m able to receive free, high-quality books to give out to children with the events that I do. In return, I get children under the age of 6 to sign up for the program. Here’s how the program works. Every children under the age of 6 is eligable to receive a high-quality book every month FOR FREE!! 🦋 Today I stood in court and bravely gave my victim impact statement in my cousin Kimberly Faith Taylor's case just before sentencing. I shared how her story has affected me over the years and how I've found inspiration in Kimberly to create my platform, "Have Faith." Nearly 600 hours of service were completed from 77 Junior Volunteers this year! The service opportunities as well as mentorship truly meant so much to me. Surrounding yourself by like minded people who want to make a change is so empowering!Thank you to all of the Junior League Members who made this year of Junior Volunteers possible, and a big thanks to my mentor @elisabeth_delp1 ! Friday night I was able to attend Lexington’s Relay for Life. We celebrated survivors, remembered loved ones lost to cancer, and raised money for cancer research and patient quality of life. Since 1985, Relay for Life has raised more than $6.7 BILLION! I attended in memory of my Grandmama, Rozelle Hook. 🌷Mothers Day Tea🌷 My goodness, what a special day we had yesterday. This event truly blessed my heart, and I am so grateful for everyone who helped, decorated, donated, etc. Yesterday afternoon, we were able to serve over 80 women at our Mother’s day Tea, and were able to raise about $800 to help support the Eagles Nest Art Center!! During the tea, mothers were able to hear from Teri Krezdorn, our wonderful guest speaker, and a woman who I grew up with as an amazing, Godly, role model. While the moms were listening to her, my good friend Lydia and I took all the little girls to do a fun Mother’s day craft, and get their nails done (I had to include one of the littles nails because they were the exact colors of our LMSC sashes)!! Sweet Adalyn and I were also able to perform for everyone, and if you ever get the chance to watch Adi, you’re in for a treat!! She’s such a cutie 🥰 Again, thank you to everyone for your help.
