QUEM É IVAN 2X ? Ivan 2X, nome artístico de Ivan Lopes da Silva (Chapecó - SC, 15 de março de 1957). Artista de vocação e jornalista de atuação, IVAN 2X, por razões de sobrevivência financeira, com pouco mais de 20 anos, casado e pai de dois filhos, em 1980 iniciou a carreira profissional trabalhando em assessoria política, em Florianópolis (SC). Foram mais de 30 anos nessa função, onde a veia artística ficou limitada nas centenas de poesias e letras musicais escritas em horas vagas. Mas a parte musical, propriamente dita, ficou registrada em mais de 100 jingles produzidos para campanhas eleitorais para candidatos a prefeitos, deputados, senadores e governadores, o que possibilitou conhecer um pouco sobre as técnicas de estúdios de gravações. Sepultura have played the first set of their 40th/Farewell tour and I don't think I'm alone thinking it is a bit under whelming. Where is a song like To The Wall in the set? This is a great early song which points to what they would achieve on their next album. It goes from fast to heavier groover parts and has some great hooks. Really sad for this to happen before the farewell tour even starts. I would have been great for the recent lineup to end it together. I know there are rumours that Eloy is joining Slipknot and there have been for quite a while now so we will see. Haven't heard anything about Greyson Nekrutman but watched some videos and he seems like a very accomplished jazz drummer who has also recently played with Suicidal Tendencies. In 2005 Roadrunner Records were celebrating their 25th Anniversary and released a number of 2cd versions of key records. Roots was given this treatment. There were two Roots Bloody Roots remixes by Sami Yaffa included. The first is based around a Tribal drumming beat with Max's vocals chopped up over top. The second has a Reggae feel to it and it is a bit more groovy. Both remixes are not essential at all and do not add anything to the song. During pre-poduction in 1995 for the Roots album the band made rehearsal recordings on an 8 track. Alot of the structure is there but there are no verse lyrics and Max is just sounding them out. To me this song was a lost opportunity for a big single from the Primitive album. The riff is great and one of the best from the early Soulfly albums. The chorus features Asha Rabouin on vocals delivering a great hooky melody. After leaving Sepultura Iggor explored his love of electronic music through his own project Mixhell and collaborations with others. In 2017 the Soulwax album From DeeWee was released which featured Iggor as one of three drummers. It was recorded live and the same band went out on the road to tour it. It is a very faithful but heavier version of the song. Killer Be Killed is a project featuring Max, Greg Puciato, Troy Sanders and Dave Elitch. Their debut album was released in 2014. The vinyl version of the album features a bonus track exclusive to that format. On the first post Max album the band created a track Kamaitachi which was recorded with the Japanese drum troupe Kodo. On the album it was an instrumental so they later worked with Mike Patton to add vocals to the song. It was included on the Against single b-side and on the Australian tour ep Tribus. The demo is heavier and puncher than the Released version. It is my preferred version of the song. It was the introduction of Andreas Kisser on a Sepultura record and was one of the first they wrote together. The song was part of their live set between 1987 and 1992. At the start of the Arise sessions the band re-recorded this Morbid Visions to be added to the Roadrunner Records Schizophrenia re-issue. It is technically superior to the 1986 version mostly due to the bands significant improved playing ability and Andreas'playing over Jairo's. Since 1990 this version has been canon to the Schizophrenia album even though it was recorded 3 years later. During the recording of the Roots album the band went to the Amazon with the Xavante tribe. They collaborated on a piece the tribe performed adding guitars and percussion live with them. The recorder was powered by car batteries and captures a very live moment even leaving in when a microphone is hit while Andreas is soloing.
