After Lima we spent 2.5 weeks near Oxapampa. Through @worldpackers, we had the opportunity to stay with @immersion_travel_oxapampa & @breslyfs in her family house in the middle of the forest 🌳 We had an incredible time there, an unforgettable experience connecting with nature. I obviously flew the drone a few times - that’s coming soon - but I also had a chance to get into birds & insects photography as the wildlife was amazing there! Let me introduce you to Tookie Tookie (the nickname Bresly’s grandma gave him)! He is a Momotus aequatorialis, also known as Relojero or Andean Motmot. Relouera means watchmaker in Spanish. This name comes from his tale (swipe for a better look) which he oscillates like a old clock. He was coming to see us every day and it was fascinating to watch him. Huaca Pucllana is a clay pyramid located in the Miraflores district of central Lima, Peru, built from seven staggered platforms. It served as an important ceremonial and administrative center for the advancement of the Lima Culture, a society which developed in the Peruvian Central Coast between the years of 200 AD and 700 AD. The ruins are located in the heart of the city and is surrounded by houses & buildings. The contrast between the old & current civilization is quite interesting. Half of the pyramid is still buried under the sand and it will take many years to see the full edifice. Lima is a pretty unique city. It stands on this huge cliffs, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Behind it, the grandiose Andes mountains. Built in between the water and the mountains, the landscape is stunning! A consequence of that is the climate. It is not as warm and Sunny has you would imagine for a city fairly close to the equator. I haven’t flew the drone in Peru yet but I got my camera out! This is exactly why I decided to buy a camera for this trip… to capture things when I can’t (or don’t want to) fly the drone 📸 It is always an opportunity to get different shots and perspectives to experiment new things creatively for me! This was taken in the neighborhood of Miraflores, Lima. We have been enjoying the ocean views here. Beaches in this part of the city are made of dark rocks. Not super comfy for sunbathing but it looks good on photographs 😁 The ocean is really wavy here and is full of surfers 🏄♂️ I’m excited to fly the drone on the coast, it looks so different from everything I have seen before! Currently sitting at the Barcelona airport waiting for the 1st flight to Madrid before going to Lima! Those past 6 months have been an unexpected ride, more downs than ups to be honest, but it is behind now. Time to start a new chapter, a new adventure! This is my biggest adventure so far. When I went to Australia in 2010, it was scary but things were pretty organized. When this time I only have a one-way ticket with some sort of plan but not much! As much as I love drone photography, sometimes drones are not always practical, or allowed! As I will be traveling soon, I thought about getting a camera in order to be able to capture memories from a different angle (I wish I did in Cuba for example). Thing is, cameras are expensive! Yesterday we booked our flights to Peru 🇵🇪! @rosieandre_com and I will be leaving on November 11th for the beginning of our adventures ✈️ It has been nice to spend time with family, to slow down and relax… but now I need to move on. I’m super excited to discover a part of the world I’ve never been to 🌎 It’s interesting reflecting at my life at the moment. I started working exactly 10 years ago (September 2011). I had fun, I learned a lot, I figured out what I like and dislike, I changed a lot… and here I am now after 10 years, purposely jobless until at least end of 2022 to enjoy life. I feel very privileged but also proud of me for putting myself in this position. Rosie and I worked hard to save enough to take this break and travel. And I’m proud of us for take the decision to leave everything behind and actually go for it! I want to use those months to work on personal projects, figure out my calling, be clear on what I want to do for the next part of life. So many people spent their entire life working waiting for retirement to enjoy life. I don’t get that to be honest. Why not enjoy life now, while I’m super healthy, young, eager to learn rather than when I’ll be older. I don’t even know if I’ll get old… tomorrow or next year is never guaranteed! 🙏 Lots of people think I’m taking a risk with having such a long break, but honestly I don’t see it this way. I can’t possibly imagine that I will be regretting this decision! I’m going to see the world, meet people, grow as a person and hopeful become a better one 🤓 Life is NOW. Around my hometown in the South of France, you can find a few castles on top of mountains. They are the Cathare castles (les châteaux Cathares). This one is Peyrepertuse 🏰 Here is some history from their website: “The site has been occupied since the Gallo-Roman age (1 BC to 1AC) In 842, Peyrepertuse has been mentioned a first time in the texts. From the beginning of the feudal system in the 11th century the castle of Peyrepertuse depends on Narbonne and later on Barcelona. In the 12th century exists a first castle protected by a wall and including a church. After the crusades in the early 12th century the castle of Peyrepertuse becomes a royal fortress at the signing of the treaty of Corbeil in 1258. The triangular lower wall of the courtyard was built in the middle of the 13th century. In 1242 the King Saint Louis or Louis 9 orders to cut stairs into the rock. The latest fortification rampart of the center part and the rebuilding of Saint Jordi’s keep were achieved in the 16th and 17th century. Since the construction of the fortress of Peyrepertuse its tasks are to ensure the control of the territory, which is still heretic and dissident to the King of France, and to resist against the enemy, the King of Aragon. In 1659 after the end of the war between Spain and France signed in the treaty of the Pyrenees, the fortress loses its strategical interest. It's called Site des Orgues which translates in English to "Organ Site" as the shapes of the rocks resemble an organ musical instrument. There are only 2 other places on the planet (Cappadocia in Turkey and Bryce Canyon in Utah) with similar rock formations so this place is pretty special! Site des Orgues is a 5 million year old rock formation made from sand and clay. You can see the layers of sediment that was built up over the years with the horizontal stripes across the rocks. However, due to the fragile nature of the rocks, they are eroding. More about me: this is where my yoga journey started. Before Miami I have never tried yoga. I thought it was a girl thing, where you had to be super flexible to do funky stretches (come one guys, if you’ve never tried it, admit that’s what you think as well 😉). I went once at this place, in May 2018, and totally got hooked! I was so wrong about everything I thought about yoga. I practiced very consistently, 2 or 3 times a week for nearly 2 years. I discovered new teachers, new styles of yoga. I have never been a flexible person but I could really noticed the changes. Since I started my posture improved, my flexibility, my joints mobility… I feel way better in my body! To carry on my journey, I did a yoga teacher training earlier this year to improve my personal practice. I also became a partner of @warriorflowtv which is an online platform where you can practice yoga whenever wherever you want for a fair subscription. Moving to Miami in 2018, I would have never expected yoga to become such a big part of my life! But I stayed open to opportunities and it gave me the chance to meet amazing people and explore new areas of life I didn’t even know existed! I’m gonna try to share more about me here. I realized that I often share about the same stuff but there are many aspects of my life that probably few people know… so I’ll drop some facts here and there 😁 For example, I’m a big fan of manga and anime… those are Japanese comics and cartoons to make it easy. I stared watching anime from a very young age… Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Captain Tsubasa we’re often on the French TV before or after school. Then I got into reading them… and I never stopped. September 1st. 4 months ago, I left my job and Miami. 2 things I loved! I decided to leave in Spring 2020 because I felt it was right. It might not make sense to a lot of people to leave behind a well paid job I enjoyed, which gave me a lot of freedom, allowing me to live in a city I completely I loved. But my guts told me it was time for a change. @rosieandre_com and I started talking, planning, saving for this big leap of faith. We left Miami with the plan to spend summer in Europe then to go to South East Asia in September. All our plans were thrown out of the window due to family matters. I’m still in France, I haven’t been to England, I barely saw any friends. Plus with the sanitary situation, South East Asia doesn’t seem like an option anymore. During this time I did my best - not as much as I wanted because I didn’t have the mental capacity to focus - to work on my projects that hopefully will pay off eventually. We hope that by the end of 2022 we will be able to make enough money from them so we can live a different lifestyle with more freedom and location-free. 🎙 I’m happy to see my podcast @justinterestingpeople growing 💪 We had an amazing month of August with more than 3x our usual amount of downloads (thank you to everyone listening!). I got big plans for this that I will announce later next year. 🧘♂️ Our library of classes on @warriorflowtv is becoming pretty solid. Thanks to my friends and partners @adrianmolinaofficial and @dennishunterofficial, we are able to provide really unique classes not just targeting super flexible classical yogis. We offer classes for every one and every body. Now is time to focus on growth. 🛸 I’ve been flying the drone in France, getting amazing footage in the South and sharing them with you here. After getting many requests, I spent a few weeks putting together an online gallery. This river, l’Agly, runs through my hometown - Saint Paul de Fenouillet - and comes from the mountains. The water is pretty much always crystal clear and really pure. During my childhood (and also adulthood) I swam in this river many many times as there are many locations where it is easily accessible.
