Sprayed with the special sauces. Many different types of lacquer, polyurethane whatever to strengthen a bobbin, for your make/brand. Or not. I have many different methods after pressing the magnets by hand, and I feel it’s necessary for reinforcement/coating. Yes the magnet press is solid, so I’m not compensating for prior issue. Simply my level of reinforcement. To strengthen the bobbin. For wire tension and or 10,000+ turns. Beware of wire tension, but be more aware of the player. All models I have designed went through the wringer of travels and tours. I targeted everything that could cause a fail in travels, especially in Latin America. Establishing tone and flexibility instantly. Genres from heavier styles to Romantic to Salsa. If they’re sonically versatile, then they can be built to last. The Extreme Humid conditions was the best test to start. Especially performing at #CarnavalDoBrasil , aguardiente flying all over, Carnaval to wild house parties. Crazy stage antics, hitting the pickup as you strum hard from adrenaline, again, sweat, humidity and 180 proof, falls, clashing. Check in guitars ✈️. I tried a lot, lit one on fire, but the one coil that broke was an unpotted/uncovered neck humbucker, screw side. I knew because coil tap went blank. E String was caught around in to bobbin from a heavy hitting left hand. I always cover neck humbuckers for this reason. Fun part of being an Engineer. Testing to break. I thank my father, Juanfucius, and all of the #engineers that I worked with for implementing “Conditions and Quality Control” Meaning... are these Jawsh-Proof? My own hypothetical conditions. I was just designing a line for myself, but people liked them. And as I dove in, I realized all models I designed, had models within models. To be able to suit any player, any custom situation. Where you can hear your true self. Represent the wood/components of your instrument, as well as the amplifier. Factoid: If you know me well.. Why do I always flip my 4x12s on their side if there’s wheels? Especially angled. If this one could talk.. Many eras of writing styles, many different amplifiers it brought the best out of, Genre hopping, countless shows/festivals/recording sessions with many groups & artists, really fun & extremely combative rehearsals, also enduring product testing since it’s one of the best reference cabinets because of the following: The seasoned @celestionuk #Vintage30’s, Marine Grade Baltic birch, very heavy & hernia prone! Now we’re talking. Favorite channel, in a pedal. Need more time with it, and Fx loop text through my XTC! I can already tell you, it’s way different from version one that has the boost and is much bigger. Like a tube powering your EQ. The active EQ makes a huge difference, feeling more amp like. . V1 of Red and Blue saved my ass on tour with twin/Pro style clean amp backlines, and using Fx returns with noisy front ends. I received the Red first, I’d compare it to the more recent red channels. My XTC is a 2004 Custom Shop. Either way, capturing a preamp in to a pedal isn’t easy. Get @sonicfragrance to do it! This Blue, unforgiving. I like the L/M/H gain levels. Plexi to Raging. The key thing about the “Blue Channel”, From 90s, early 2000’s serial signs. To classic. And 20th anniversary. All slightly different flavors/evolutions. It’s the most Unforgiving channel I have played. It will humble you on a bad day. And nice to know many albums from what I heard, have used the Blue Channel: Dillinger’s Miss Machine (I hear a MkIV & 5150 as well). @benweinman can you confirm? to @rascalflatts older stuff we’re recorded on Blue. Blue plexi.. @joedonrooney can ya chime in on this? 2008 album (Help me remember) I remember seeing 2-3 XTC’s. @stevepedulla’s XTC tone in Thursday always huge. One of my favorite human beings @michaeljasoncrain getting well deserved love from @premierguitar. Representing a pickup I designed for his SG used in Various projects. I say we, because He gave me exact direction, we nailed it. I own an #Uberschall & beta tester #Peavey5150 patent pending block logo. Added a fixed bias, to get rid of crossover distortion by upping to the mA range in 2002. That’s when I found out it was an early one. May 1991 on PCB. I see why @ross_robinson used this to set the bar for all those records. Having those amps made design reference easy. The model is called Slowburn, it walks the line of Vintage/Modern. This is a variation of it with #Vintage #NOS wire, clever engineering with frequency traps & maybe a radar jammer I traversed within the winds, which actually allows you to roll down to near clean WITHOUT a treble bleed/retention RC network. Yes I worked in RF engineering. And stuff for my eyes only. Now.. Add a choice type of #Alnico8. Then choice carbon content alloys. Like Horsepower it’s the little things that count. Then a player like Crain who plays in #Retox @unftw @dead_cross_official and on tour with @mrbungleofficial Built to handle absolute #CHAOS in gain, live, studio and for the player, road worthy, while staying classy. This one always gets me. HOW certain brands let their cabs out to the stores with 16-18awg wire. Beyond me. Well, as par usual, some “tech” questioned my ways while always asking for me to bail them out with advice. This tap is running dry after I found out what’s been said. Deemed as it was “snake oil”, the Influencer expert put down $300USD that upgrading the wire in our friends cab would do nothing. The friend telling me “same speakers as yours? I want that response. Name your price, apply your research.” Exactly. Research. History repeated yesterday. But in original situation, there were 2 identical 4x12’s to really show my legitimacy. Group of friends and a person to hold the money. After my procedure. The evidence was hilariously displayed. My particular wire choice OPENED up the sound, EQ sat comfortably around 1 o’clock. Those tinny highs gone. That was 2006. Yesterday was an influencer going live. We recorded the before in #ableton Too bad he deleted it. Here I’m actually showing my two upgrades. Thee ol “Lampshade” wire, and this thicker gauge for certain situations. It makes the stock wire look cute. Moral of story is, you can learn a lot from me, we can learn from eachother or the other experienced & decorated one not saying anything, if you have an open mind. Also just don’t challenge the engineer who plays for a living. They might have a decade or two under the belt. Wait until my Vlog post on grounding drops. Carbon content on this particular model. So many variables to offset, accidental discoveries, #alloys, #magnets, #Eddycurrent, another thing.. casuals call it #Scatterwound… if you scatter wind an entire pickup, meaning a very fast far left, far right traverse as the pickup is winding. “Random Wound”Congratulations!! Enjoy your new antenna! With brightness. It’s just a catch phrase. If a “scatterwind” is applied by someone who knows RF Engineering, who happens to be a musician making pickups out of necessity. NOS wire, and Joshy’s trickery learned from coils on radar, underground locators, frequency traps back in the #SiliconValley contractor days of RF/Electrical engineering before jumping in to a Luthier apprenticeship. OG 1995 Fender MIM strat. Where it all started, to be a modifications expert. Report from the blog.. (deep breath). All out of necessity. #LeftyGuitars = limited. On a mission to make it my own. Since I was serious w/ #Songwriting & my own sound #tone identity. Mid 90s. Scaled up to 12-58 strings, from 6 pack singles. Started with an EMG 85 (no clips) hard wired in Pos 1, Pos 2/3 swapped to passive neck position, Middle to be Pos 4/5. This forbidden position 2 (EMG/stock #SingleCoil combination) had this crazy sound that was the juice for #riffwars we had during house party #freestyle #Cypher’s. Using a @tech21nyc XXL pedal (🙏🏽Lloyd) driving a #peaveyvtm120 to #peavey5150 for the sounds of #ESSJ bands Shaft, Sick Life & Ceiba. I had a cut function in Pos. 5. Middle pickup was a broken EMG select, out of phase with itself. Nasal/small & perfect for switching to an explosive Pos 1 or 2. Reversing N/M slots and the result was empowering 1996-2000 ish. Bought an #IbanezRG470L in 1998, passive circuits. Was at halted Electronics in #SiliconValley buying parts researching #TrebleBleeds to the next level. So intrigued, I used wires to droop outside of the guitar connected to In/Out of a 500k potentiometer to aligator clip combinations of treble retention/ #RCNetworks. Also it’s felt heat of every soldered pickup change from ‘03 to now, shows/tours/sessions. College #Tech, I studied worked electrical/RF #engineering..com bubble bursted, was offered a luthier apprenticeship to incorporate later on with my engineering experience. I knew this was my path. Looking @ current wiring from 2003, custom, complicated, maintained relevance. Besides Coil split + Phase, & ability to choose North/South coil when split. MUCH more detail under that hood. She’s alive! Revived my designated low tuned strat with #ESPGL56 neck (thanks @georgelynchofficial) from a 2007ish build at ESP before a tour. Cracked Ebony board from the previous had the upper register frets popping up. Was a wide neck. Replaced with this 56mm marvel. Some sizing quirks but didn’t care. Saw a lot of stuff in the 15-16 years in service. For the guitar Designated for Low C#-C Standard tuning. All I did was a fret level, and some of my normal gusto. Nothing you can’t learn in my classes. Kept it simple. Tri-file, a lil bit of z-file, future patent tool for one of the levels of the fret process. And end result. #FretBling in effect, dowelled holes. Realigned. Plays like a dream. @callahamguitars 1018 Lefty bridge from 2004. Early 2000’s MIM body, and an early custom wound H-S set I did/push-pull switching system done 8-6-04 according to the note in pickguard. Still works perfectly. The balance of playing heavier styles in San Jose and Salsa w/ @manicatomatos @crismatosarts in SF kept me on my toes and Versatile. Didn’t realize it at the time, one gig where guys beat the snot out of eachother in the mosh pit. Then the next with beautiful people dancing sweating out the 9-5. And paid significantly more. Monetary aside, the musical fulfillment/experience was incredible. When I landed in #Colombia, though I played in a rock group, I was grupo ready, dance floor = other level. My #Caleña roomate and friends wiped the floor with me. Better believe I leveled up adapted quickly. Transfer rhythm from my hands to my hips and feet = unstoppable. The man saw right through you as a player..all of us! He acknowledged 1st gig seeing me, noting extreme versatility, playing for the song & not myself. He asked to hang & a thorough lesson.. (musical ass whoopin). he ended with.. “that’s what it is…your practice habits suck! Better fix before the next.. The man saw right through me. Was right. Then “yeah Joshua.. please never lose that good heart & innovative mind that leaves an impression on everyone you meet, fans to inspired players”. Used my shish kabob trick and a stick of Maple that I cut for #Humbucker Spacers to really get results. Going to open it up tomorrow. Check for loose wires, cold solder joints. You name it. Power tubes are not affected by tapping with the palitos. Any suggestions here amp folk? I have drain resistors, and amp experience. But I know my limits. No #TimtheToolManTaylor stuff going around at HomeWrecker HQ or our studio locations. I’ll take some gut shots tomorrow to post. But I cannot wait to have this running. My VTM60 is down (sounds like solo of paranoid “ring mod” effect, I personally suspect filtering but it could be 20 other things. Both Bennetts electronic geniuses with Chucks Tachyon Delay 👌🏼 PCB design, and Garrett’s amps + cab woodworking is second to none on his hand made cabs.
