Welcomes you to the second edition of my mini series called: Fact Friday. ⬇️See below⬇️ ⚠️To stand out from the rather boring standard GTI, VW decided to turn this special series Golf GTI into a party piece. The interior featured Recaro sports seats with GTI emblems, perforated leather on the steering wheel, gearstick and handbrake lever as well as red lined floor mats and real aluminium trim which was shared with the Golf MK4 R32. The famous golf ball gear knob also celebrated its comeback. The roofliner, as well as the A, B, and C pillars, are in black, adding to the sporty feeling of the GTI. The golf also received a different style instrument cluster, of which the speedometer went up to 260 kmph. The 100 Dutch Golf GTI Editions was ordered by PON and only came in black magic pearl (LC9Z) or reflex silver (LA7W). Unfortunately, Tornado Red wasn't available in the Netherlands. Let's kick Fact Friday off with this 🔥🔥shot. So what makes this unassuming golf so special, you might ask. 🔧Let's start with the technical details, but first some background info. This golf was made to celebrate 25 years of the Volkswagen Golf GTI. Globally only 3000 units were made and only 100 were originally delivered in the Netherlands. Let's focus on the Dutch GTI for now, which is known and sold as the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition. Each golf is individually numbered. The Dutch import company for VAG cars Pon Import decided that the golf wasn't special enough and so it received an ABT chiptuning, increasing the horsepower from 180hp to 210hp and torque went from 235nm to a massive 300nm. Each Dutch delivered golf received a certificate with VIN Number, engine ECU number, the numberplate, and serial number. There is so much more to explain, but it won't fit on here.
