Have you ever wondered what the main trip of Project Lokun is all about? It was established in 2006 with the goal of cultivating, connecting, and caring for communities in Pursat Province, Cambodia. However, before the main trip happens, the reconnaissance trip, known as the Recce Trip, takes place first. The main trip is held two times per year in May and December, with a span of 10 days or more, as it is also broken up into two batches that happen continually. Volunteers include medical students from the University of Puthisastra, Singaporean Lokuners from NUS, the UPPC team, and other volunteer doctors from different nations as well. Activities such as Clinic Day, Primary and Adult Education Day, and Health Need Assessment (HNA) are primarily undertaken in four villages: Boun, Takeo, Prey Omal, and Toul Makak. A little sneak peek of our new village is Keo Mony, which was introduced by the authorities in Pursat to be our next target. Nevertheless, volunteer workshops help strengthen the bonds between all volunteers and Lokuners by discussing what we have done and giving feedback to one another to enhance our creativity, leadership, and cooperation.
