It’s a Troy in his natural habitat! We went to @thegamesmen yesterday and I loved seeing T get so excited as he described all the board games to me. He picked up Captain Sonar and was like a kid in a candy store with the size of his smile as he told me all about the gameplay and how it works, the excitement was so infectious. Haha! My little boys also love The Gamesmen and came away with some Minecraft cards and folders. Troy filled his arms cos he had some trade credit and apparently you can never have too many Board Games; I’m keen to play Dominion with this new expansion he bought, and Dorf Romantik looks really cute! It’s got that New Car smell! Happy early Birthday to me, I picked up my new car today just in time for my bday next weds! I’ve never owned a brand new car but I’ve been looking for a car since pre-Covid and second hand cars have gotten so $$ that it was a better deal to get a brand new Kia Cerato GT and I couldn’t be happier! My poor old Mondeo had been hanging on by the barest of threads til I could trade it in today- but the good old friend limped across the line with its Engine Malfunction light glowing bright and the broken passenger window held up with black tape, a mere 2.5wks before rego is due. lol! It was stressful but we made it! Flynn sat this one out so Jaimeson, Troy & I played “Colt Express” which is a game I found at the Op Shop for $5! Op shop games are awesome! You’re a bandit on a little train and you move your Bandit Meeple around the train according to action cards you play, always trying to steal loot and shoot your opponents. But watch out for the Marshall cos he’s also trying to catch up to you! Jaimeson won, he’s great at strategy games! We went to see the Ramses exhibition at the Australian Museum today & it was so good! (Spoilers ahead!!) I loved all the beautiful, amazing, intricate artefacts in the exhibit especially the stone carvings, colourful tiles and enamel jewellry plus I love that Ramses was the biggest self-promoter. Umbrella Picnic at Blaxland Riverside Park today! It was supposed to be so that the kids could run off and play at the park while T & I hung out together but the kids just stuck to us like glue and continued their current usual arguing/extreme noisy talking/whinging, just in a park location. I got fed up with it so I made the boys stay and mind the picnic while T & I went for a walk through the Armoury which I had never been through before. What a cool collection of bunkers and little buildings! When we got back the boys were playing cards together and were being so much nicer to each other. Phew! Preparing for today’s 44°C (111°F) day with an early morning visit to Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre at Lidcombe/Auburn! We drive past this pool all the time and have never called in, what a mistake! We loved it! I wish I had have visited before its refurb in 2016, as it was even more retro than the bits & pieces you still see around now, like the awesome concrete seating structures and cool tiling. I remember passing it on the train from Parra to the city and seeing the awesome Diving Board structure which has since been demolished. That would have been awesome! It was quite pleasant outside at the pool for the first hour, despite it being 38°C. But then the wind dropped off in the second hour and it became stifling so it was time to head home. We still had a great morning cool-off and we’ll definitely visit again! Bonus points for their canteen having $4 Pluto Pups! I loved watching Ed build his songs on the loop machine before he started singing, so many different elements combined to make each song, it was fantastic! I loved that he chatted with us about writing songs & he had little stores to tell. He played all my faves, and the sold out 86000pax crowd was with him the whole way!! The boys & I had a great time watching my cousin’s son Blake play Baseball this hot afternoon!! Blake is an awesome Baseball player, some days following up his U18 games with 3rd Grade, 2nd Grade & 1st Grade games all on the one day! Haha! What a champion! This was a nail biting game, coming down to the wire on the last balls, and with loaded bases they were down 2 runs (I got confused for a minute whether you call them runs in Baseball or if that’s just cricket 😂😂) but they just got pipped at the post. We loved watching you play @blake_chippo!! It was awesome! Well done! Thanks for having us hang out @little.chipp @big.chippa & Elise! Kerrie even won a prize in the Club Raffle & the boys gobbled down Schnitty chips & gravy from the canteen. When we got back to the car it was 40°C! What a scorcher! I had a great time seeing Post Malone & Red Hot Chili Peppers with @quachie3 last night! Posty was excellent, I really loved him! He had so much crowd interaction & said some lovely things (yes with lots of swearing, sorry mum. Lol!) but he is such a nice guy, contrasted with his look! Lol! At one point he smashed a guitar (cos he was performing a song he wrote with Ozzie Osborne) then he went around and picked up all the guitar pieces himself & gave them out to the crowd. Haha! Chili Peppers were good but played lots of songs I didn’t know & it was almost like the crowd got a little bored at one point, and they didn’t play Under the Bridge, boo! But they were still great! We went to The Star buffet at Bankstown RSL for lunch to Celebrate the end of another fun school holidays, and now we are all in immense pain cos we totally ate too much and it is a physical pain that makes you feel morose and icky and I didn’t even want the kids to touch me as we crossed the road cos I was in so much pain. I forgot this is what buffets are all about! It reminded me of when I was 11 years old and got to go to Pizza Hut for the “all you can eat” session with my year 6 class & we’d never gotten to eat so much pizza in our whole lives and everyone was sick from gorging themselves. Anyway…! The boys had a great time getting whatever they wanted to eat, which meant every shade of deep fried brown for Flynn and a plate full of nuggets to dip in their ice cream (see why we are all in pain now. Haha!) They also had a chocolate fountain where you could dip marshmallows, like wow!! So yeah. It hurts. But I’m sure we’ll look back on it & laugh. Jaimeson wants to come back for his bday so I said we needed to just have one plate each next time (and 2 bowls of ice cream. Haha!) #lamsummerbucketlist #mylamboys

Finishing up our day of Civic Events at Merrylands with a movie in the park, food truck dinner & the main event, and whole reason we are here, fireworks which are due at 9pm! Flinders begged to see a proper Fireworks show up close after all the excitement of the illegal fireworks in our neighbourhood at New Years. So here we are! Rain has held off so far, I did get a prickle in my palm and Jaimeson has a swollen eye from a mozzie bite on his eyelid, but we’re soldiering on til the Fireworks show. Haha! Flynn gave us a challenge today, that all our drinks & snacks had to be of a colour that we each had to pick out of a hat! My colour was red, Jaimeson’s yellow and Flynn’s was green then he moped until we let him choose another colour so he also chose purple cos too many veggies are green. Haha! Back into our busy School Holiday days after camping: first the Dentist for everyone, then lunch at Schnitz, a play at Timezone, then the boys shopped in TKMaxx for a bday present for me while I waited outside (it’s in 2 weeks, mark your calendars 😆😆). They were 95c short in TKMaxx, I gave them $20 and Flynn had $11 in his wallet but they were still short. Mum& Dad have joined the cool kid crew and have a Cool Cabana now! There’s enough shade for our whole fam now, yay! I have loved the beach-scape this year, there have been so many beautiful vintage & vintage-style beach umbrellas, as well as pop ups of striped Cool Cabanas all down the beach, the beach has looked so fun and summery! The beauty is you can see through the Cool Cabanas set up on the beach, rather than the little igloo wind shades that block the view. Every school holidays I get the boys to write a Bucket List of things to do in the holidays. This time neither of them wanted to write the list (lazy bums!) so that means we default to doing everything Mummy wants to do instead- like going out for breakfast! Haha! Bakery Breakfast at the park nice & early with the kids. This was a great idea!! I burst into their bedroom & got them out of bed with a “quick quick quick, get dressed, we’re going out! Quick!” like a drill Sargent. I didn’t tell them where we were going, just bundled them into the car, nipped into the local bakery and off to Blaxland Riverside Park we went! They were so happy when we turned down past the jail & they realised where we were (do you always wave to the crims like we do? 😆) I love that there’s no one here, or at least there was for the first little bit. “Hi! Welcome to Burgy’s, can I take your order?” The boys have some plans to open a restaurant together when they’re older (in amongst Jaimeson being a Palaeontologist Train Driver & Flynn being whatever he has decided for the day). It’s gonna be called “Burgy’s Burgers” and their signature item will be a Cheese Cookie- a disk of crispy-edged melted cheese cooked in the sandwich press. Lol! They’re very elaborate & thought out restaurant plans! Last night Jaimeson said he would make toasted sandwiches for tea and wrote out special Burgy’s Sandwiches menus for Flynn & I, mine was even an adult menu with extra items (coffee milk & Coke) which wasn’t on Flynn’s child menu. Haha! He then wrote out our choices in his own shorthand on a clipboard and cooked us our selections, running up & down the stairs with each item. Such great initiative! Well done Jaimeson!! It was sooo nice to have him cook me dinner for once, I just sat & watched tv!! A spontaneous lunch by Lake Parramatta! We stopped at Salvos and could smell a bakery, so we followed our noses, bought pies & a sausage roll & brought them to the lake to sit & eat! Time for a school holiday treat!! Shaved Ice using our Japanese Panda ice shaver I got at Salvos and some sugar free (great idea, me!) raspberry cordial. The boys were so happy! Flynn helped me shave the ice, all I needed was to put on some Hawaiian music so we could feel like we were back at Aulani Resort where Flynn got the biggest Shave Ice ever, as big as his head. Lol! We started at Meadowbank Skate Park (such an awesome skate park & soon to have a splash park open there too!) and scootered along the river front, under the rail bridge to Meadowbank. While I was at work today my lovely School Mum friends Senah & Maggie took the boys to Krispy Kreme to do donut decorating!! What a fun outing! I was so grateful for my friends and grateful that the boys could still get out and do something fun while I was working my butt off at work (it’s catastrophic at work, I’m slaughtered). The boys & I accidentally ended up at the Glebe Markets this morning (I didn’t realise they were on!), after we visited Mineralism so the boys could spend their pocket money on fossils and sparkly crystals. It’s been MONTHS since we’ve enjoyed the awesome vibe of markets and we were so happy cruising around, surveying the wares! The last time I went to Glebe Markets was with Willy, so at least 7 years ago. We bought succulents/cactuses (3 for $10), Flynn bought some Pokemon card packs & delightedly ran back to the stall holder to show him the awesome V card he uncovered which the man was so happy to see 😄 We had lunch: a Nutella French crepe for Jaimeson and a Spanish omelette with chorizo for me (so good!) Flynn settled on a $1 slurpee from 7/11 cos there was sadly no chips on a stick, then I got some beautiful Aniday earrings and we sat & listened to the guitar busker who was very good! Fun times out at Parramatta doing a @puzzletrailsaustralia Clue Hunt for Cooper’s bday! This was so much fun & a great way for adults & kids to learn more about the local history of Parramatta. School Holidays summed up in some art that came back from school on the first day. Apparently it doesn’t matter what we did for all the other 5 weeks of the school holidays Cos all these drawings are of things we did in the last week of the hols 🤣🤣 I love them tho! Beach, the 3 of us, the blue ice cream they had last week, playing games & pizza. 😃 It was a fun holiday, even with Covid restrictions, lock downs in parts of Sydney, an outbreak in our neighbourhood, Mummy working & trying to stay clear of too many restaurants & public transport. Park life! I grabbed a takeaway coffee after the boys haircuts and was sipping it in the car when we spotted this park. Time for a spontaneous park play! The round-about Orb was pretty awesome! We have had such a lovely time away, first a fun Lam Fam holiday to Jervis Bay/ St George’s Basin, then a relaxing few days with Granny & Papa! It feels like we have been away for AGES! A real holiday! Time to take these little tanned boys home tonight, back to work & routine, back to real life.
