It's double filtered before it reaches us so it's crystal clear 💦 We recently cleaned the filters and it's made the pressure go way up! Ensuring a nice powerful shower for you to start your day :) We supply basic products - shower gel and shampoo so you don't have to bring your own if you want to travel light. ✨ What a momentous day @casadelbienestarlanjaron Had a full day out in the Campo with our amazing Spanish neighbours 💛 We helped them collect olives from their land - liquid gold! A good few hours of work, but breakfast and lunch provided with coffee and beer 🍻 Then, they helped us soak and cultivate the top part of our land. An area we thought would just lie empty and dry, is now full of possibilities for trees and fruit and vegetables! Going from living in a top floor flat in Leith with no experience of even a small garden to working out what to do with a decent size plot of land has seemed quite daunting until now. But, once again, we are so grateful to be surrounded by such amazing neighbours 🙏 Honestly, the support and help we have received since we got here really reminds us of exactly why we decided to move to this wonderful village of Lanjaron that we now call home 💛
✨ Our town - Lanjaron 💛 Lanjarón, 500 metres above sea level, lies on the southern slope of the Sierra Nevada and is the gateway to the Alpujarras as well as being near to the beautiful city of Granada. It is a good location for visitors wishing to travel extensively in Andalusia as it is near the motorway to Granada and the Mediterranean coast as well as the road leading up further into the High Alpujarras. Lanjarón is a popular tourist destination as it combines a health resort, famous for its spa waters, with the attractiveness of a typical whitewashed Alpujarran village. The healing waters of Lanjarón flow from seven natural springs and the bottled water is sold throughout Spain. The Balneario Health Resort provides baths, massages, hydrotherapy, saunas and mud baths. Below the Balneario the Salado park is a lovely place to relax by a small babbling brook in the shade of large eucalyptus trees and beautiful views over the ravine. There are terraced cafes and frequent musical concerts and outdoor cinema (programmes available at the Tourist Information). Lanjarón still maintains a rural way of life steeped in Alpujarran tradition, with terraced farming and irrigation systems dating back to the Moors. Sumptuous vegetation surrounds the village - tall chestnut trees, almond and walnut trees and lower down the mountain, olive and orange orchards abound. There is also an impressive ruin of a Moorish castle standing high on its own mound just below the village where the Arab population of the Alpujarras made their last stand against Ferdinand's Catholic forces in 1500. It is possible to walk to the castle or just enjoy the magnificent views from the town. Lanjarón has 2 small supermarkets, a Friday morning market, bakers and butchers and various tourist and souvenir shops. There is also the health resort and 3 banks with cash dispensers. There is a bus service for trips to Granada and a once a day direct to Malaga. Lanjarón castle was built between the 13th and 16th centuries in the late Moorish age and restored by Christians later. Legend says that Lanjarón Castle was the scene of one of the cruellest battles once the contest of the conquest of Granada ended. In this Alpujarreño bastion, the rebels who had risen against the Catholic King and against the humiliation they suffered from Cardinal Cisneros, who failed to comply with the most solemn clauses of capitulations, which was freedom of conscience and security of property. During the last battle in the castle, Knowing that his hours were numbered, Qasim, also known as Black Captain, sheltered at night and helped by a rope slipped through the most abrupt face of the rock and introduced his beautiful jineta (Nazarí sword) into one of the deep cracks of La Peña, camouflage it into the rocks and vegetation so that no one would take over it as a trophy of war. The next morning the battle continued with great ferocity... at half a day the Castle was surrendered to Christians, Qasim cornered by the soldiers on top of the fortress and seeing himself lost, jumped into the void in an act of bravity, crashing against the rocks and dying pitiously. Many recognised his knee and courage. Others instead dedicated themselves to looking for the Jineta as a loot of war, but no one found it... she's still sleeping somewhere in the Peña del Castillo de Lanjarón because she belongs to honour, loyalty and courage.
