This small but still magnificent National Park called 🅴🅸🅽 🅰🅵🅴🅺. Founded in 1979 on the territory of 165 Acres in total, the reserve includes water, wetlands, ponds, unique hiking and water trails, Antique buildings, a variety of birds and water plants and a wonderful floating wooden bridge running over the water source. The foremost attraction here is the stamping ground of wild buffalos, which you can watch from a viewpoint on the top of the hill. An ancient flour mill allows you to see gorgeous views of the Akko valley from its roof. The reserve is filled with aquatic and animal life. Many species of birds can be spotted here so bring your binoculars. Catfish are in abundance here and sometimes you can even see some tortoises in the area. 🪷There are various routes in Ein Afek Reserve with the leng of between 1-2 km. September 28, 1983: The summit of Gulf Hagas Mountain was partially open. Covered with a low, dense tangle of scrubby growth, it sported some decent views back to the south. I paused very briefly at the summit to take it all in before turning back northward and starting down the other side. Suddenly, I was frozen in my tracks. I had been zoning out at the time, moving ahead on autopilot. My mind was wandering distant pathways, tuning out a snowballing mass of fatigue. I had no idea why my feet had abruptly stopped, why the hair on my arms, legs, and neck was spiking like the quills of a porcupine. I returned to the present, blinking like a man waking from a dream. Then, I saw it. Ahead of me and to the left was a vision drawn from the mists of dreams, a legend of long-ago summer nights kept alive by the aspirations and longings of a tired wanderer. A myth made real by the sweat and blood of two thousand weary miles. ... I smiled as my gaze returned to the mountain. So many miles behind me. It looked so close. It was getting late. I headed down the ridge. Beyond the summit, the crest of Gulf Hagas Mountain was a descending progression of small knobs. Viewpoints along the ridge were better than at the summit. Now that I'd seen it and known it for what it was, Mount Katahdin kept popping up, over and over again. This was the Katahdin of my June and July daydreams. I never saw myself on the mountain, just close. Looking across miles of forests decked out in reds, golds and oranges. Cool lakes reflecting the deep blue Autumn sky. 🎒 What to pack? So, I'm heading off again. Pic 1: The location = Loch Lomond, the West Highland Way (well, a middle bit of it) and the first section of the Great Trossachs Path, as represented by the maps. And the aim = lots of writing, as represented by the notebook and far too many pens. @zebrapen_uk are my longstanding favourites. I find a great help / cheat when packing is to always take the same basics (maps, waterproofs, clothes, phone charger etc). That way, I know what I need without having to overly think about it. Pics 2 & 5: I can never resist taking a book or two with me! I usually wrap the one I'm not reading on the journey in a t-shirt or similar to help protect it in my backpack. Pic 3: The layout. This is the majority of what I'm taking this trip (minus maps / notebook / pens, see pic 1). I do like a good visual layout, it helps me spot if I've forgotten anything! Here we have (from top, left) waterproof trousers, trousers, snood, plushie Nessie, lounge pants for hotel (yes, Daffy Duck), books, emergency / survival blankets (X2, different types), underwear, phone charger (this is the thing I nearly forgot!), wash bag (dinosaur patterned), spare glasses, sun cream, socks, t-shirts and first-aid kit. Pic 4: The new gadget -- waterproof, multicolour, inner bags for my backpack. I like trying new gadgets on my trips, and am very pleased with these. Checking out a new circular route along the North Pembrokeshire coast last weekend. Tremynydd to Carn Penberi in glorious sunshine with a reverse view back to Abereiddi.. A less well trodden section of the #walescoastpath . Auf den Spuren von Sauriern und Wein Saftiges Grün frischer Wiesen. Schmetterlinge, die durch die Luft tanzen. Veilchen, Leberblümchen und Schlüsselblumen säumen den Wegesrand. Greifvögel lassen sich durch die erste erwärmte Frühlingsluft auf der Suche nach einer Mahlzeit tragen. Die intensiven Gelb- und Orangetöne der Sandsteinschichten leuchten in der Sonne. Der Duft von blühenden Obstbäumen umweht uns. Wir haben einen sonnigen Frühlingsnachmittag für eine Wanderung genutzt. Die Tour führte uns an Weinbergen vorbei hinauf zur Kunitzburg, über das kleine malerische Dörfchen Laasan zum Jenzig und schließlich durch die Kunitzer Hausbrücke zurück zum Startpunkt. Immer wieder öffnet sich der Wald und bietet eine tolle Aussicht auf die Stadt im Tal. Die auf dem Weg liegenden Touringen-Stempel „197 Wein“ und „196 Saurier“ auf der SaaleHorizontale haben wir natürlich auch gleich eingesammelt. Als Belohnung gab es auf dem Jenzig zwei kühle Getränke auf der Terrasse des Berggasthauses. Terug op de been op een nieuwe wandeling, het weer zat goed, warmte voelde goed aan op het gezicht, rugzak volgepakt met wat voor te eten en drinken natuurlijk, het landelijke begon al heel actief, gevolgd door militaire graven ✨
Het was idd een landelijke natte wandeling, daar was geen uitkomen aan 🥲, hier en daar toch nog een bloemetje fotograferen om dan verder te wandelen naar de kerk, tuurlijk ging die ook op de foto, uiteindelijk kwamen we uit aan de schaapjes die keken even verbaasd zoals wij naar hun keken 😅
