5 realistic players I’ve got my eyes on in this upcoming 2024 draft. Zeev Buium- Defenseman (1st rounder) - Skating is as smooth as butter, probably one of the strongest skaters in this draft. As a defenseman that is the most important attribute. A decent defender who can get the puck out of the zone fast, with a lot of smarts as well. His ability to make things happen in the offensive zone is why he is up high on my list. Tij Iginla- Center/Left Wing (1st rounder) - Has one of the best shots in this draft with great hands. His stick handling helps open the ice and create space. His ability to predict where the play is going, and where the puck is going to be shows his smarts as well. The only knock on him that I can see, he has shorter strides than most but isn’t necessarily a slow skater. That can definitely be developed. Cole Eiserman- Left Wing (1st rounder) - He will shoot anywhere at anytime. His shot is almost Austin Matthews like, quick and off the toe. He is very good at reading the defensive zone as well. What I really like most about Eiserman is with all that skill, he still can get in the dirty areas, and win puck battles. A very very good player. Julius Miettinen-Center (2nd rounder) - This guy is an absolute unit at 6’3, 205 lbs. He is a guy who can definitely fall, so I probably wouldn’t take him with our first round picks. He’s a big, speedy winger who can score in transition. When I watch his game the first person I think of is Alexander Barkov. A long body who can put the puck in the net. He needs to work on his defensive minded play but can develop into a really good player. Henry Mews-Defenseman (3rd rounder) - Mews is a guy who isn’t the flashiest, but he knows how to develop plays. He’s not your Cale Makar, or Erik Karlsson type of player. But he is very dominant with the puck. He still has to clean some things up on the defensive side but he can be a steal in this draft. Of course in a later round. #letsgoflyers

All the guys I would be looking to move this offseason or next season. Scott Laughton -I will always love Scotty for what he’s done for us and how long he’s been with the club. His value right now is probably the most we’ll be able to get from now on. I’d look to move him for a late first/second round pick during the season next year. Rasmus Ristolainen -Really nothing that he does good in my opinion besides hit and take up space. Also very injury prone. His cap hit is brutal for what he is. If we had to retain 50% of his salary, I’d do it just to get him out of town. Joel Farabee - In my opinion I think he is what he is. Mid 20 maybe 30 goal scorer. Around 50 points a season which isn’t bad. Joel is probably going to want money that he’s just not worth. I’d try to get the most value out of him right now. Maybe a mid 2nd/3rd round pick, and a prospect. I don’t think he’s a bad player, just think he’s not what we need to succeed in the future. Sean Couturier - This one hurts. I think naming him Captain wasn’t the best idea. He’s getting up there in age, and is very injury prone. A back injury is extremely hard to come back from. Sean’s comments after being healthy scratched weren’t my favorite either. Ever since he got the C it seemed like he wasn’t even on the ice. I still think we can get some value out of him. If we’re lucky a 1st/2nd or a young decent player. We would have to retain at least 25% of his contract due to the injury history, but that’s a risk I’d be willing to take. Do I think we’ll get rid of Coots? Probably not. #letsgoflyers
