Yummy Custard is packed full of vanilla oat milk, aloe vera, vanilla pod powder and gardenia extract. A little goes a very long way when you a scooping it out of the pot it comes in. I have to admit, I have an obsession with Snuggles shower gel. It has been my go to shower gel for 90% of my April showers. Which is why we have not seen any of #thenzlushieweekofshowers posts come back just yet. Snuggles shower gel is part of the 2024 Mother’s Day collection that Lush has put out. Sometimes a Cup O’ Coffee face and body mask is all you need to start your day. Cup O’ Coffee is one that I like to pick up to use as an exfoliating scrub for my face. I’ll sometimes use it as a face mask or to help soften up the eczema I get in random patches on my face. I have been using Cup O’ Coffee this way since it came out in 2015. Cup O’ Coffee is packed full of organic agave syrup, kaolin clay, ground organic coffee, bentone gel, vetivert oil, vanilla, coriander seed oil, roasted cocoa extract and caffeine powder. I’m just a sucker for anything that has a foodie scent to it at the moment. Don’t Look At Me face mask has to be my favourite fresh face mask that Lush makes. It makes me smile every time I use it as it reminds me of the Smurfs. Packed full of kaolin clay, fresh lemon juice, rice syrup, ground rice, silken tofu, murumuru butter, bentone gel, rice milk, grapefruit oil and neroli oil. Shrek Pack aka Mask of Magnanimity face mask, is the self-preserving version of the face mask. Packed full of honey, kaolin, evening primrose seeds, peppermint oil, vanilla and chlorophyllin. Basically Shrek Pack is the go to mask if you are prone to break outs and can be used on your face and chest. The self-preserving version is the one I can use with my stupidly over the top sensitive skin and that is saying something as I also get patches of eczema on my face, which it doesn’t upset at all. Get Outta my Swamp shower slime is all the slimy goodness you want it to be. From the beautiful colour, that seems to change from green to orange depending on what light is reflecting off it. To the swampy, earthy scent that is Get Outta my Swamp. The main scents notes of Get Outta my Swamp are wheatgrass, pine, vetivert and peppermint. Shrek Swap bath bomb is packed full of rhassoul mud, oakmoss and seaweed to leave your skin feeling really soft. Chocolate, pink pepper and vanilla as the main scent notes of Shrek Swap, think chocolatey with hints of mint and spice. Be warned Shrek Swap does contain floaters that float around the top of the water, so if it is not your thing but you want to still try the bath bomb pop it in a sieve to catch them all. Fiona shower gel is one of the products I have been looking forward to trying out most of all. I have to say that I absolutely adore the scent and the colour. Fiona is packed full of cucumber, mango, violet and lime. I get the fresh cucumber scent first with hints of the mango and violet, not so much the lime. It is a very clean, fresh, fruity scent perfect for those days where you want a pick me up for your morning shower or for those that prefer baths. A little goes a very long way as Fiona is on the thicker side for the consistency of shower gels, but it is not hard to get out the bottle. The lather is beautiful, nice and bubbly when using your hands to suds it up. The scent sticks to the skin once you have dried off as well. I have found that it doesn’t dry my skin out either which is a huge bonus. Fiona shower gel is one of shower gels that just makes you happy when you smell it or see the colour. Easter Turtle shower jelly is beyond cute. Sharing its scent with Temptation shower gel, think cinnamon, orange flower, myrrh and gardenia. The scent sticks to your skin after you have washed away the soap suds that Easter Turtle creates. Since shower jellies are sea weed based they also help with leaving your skin feeling really soft and not drying it out. If you are someone that finds shower jellies hard to use as one big jelly you can pull chunks off and smoosh into a wash cloth. You can blend them up in a blender, chop them into smaller chunks, or freeze them whole, which happens to be one of my favourite ways to use them in Summer. You can also pop them into a cotton draw string bag and use them that way or for bubbles in the bath too. Which was popular when doing bath cocktails. Faerie Realm soap is part of the Easter Collection. Opening it up the smell of it reminds me so much of another Lush product that I can’t quite place, so if you know please do tell me. The bars you buy online come shaped like this and if you get a chunk from in store it will be cut from a mushroom shaped soap. Mushroom Land knot wrap is part of the Easter 2024 range. I love when Lush brings out beautiful new knot wraps. What I love even more is when they are covered in mushrooms and are a really fun colour. The main way I use knot wraps is to wrap up presents now that my kids are older. They can be used for scarves, to carry your lunch, as pretty art work, as head bands and so many more was. Sleep massage bar shares its scent with Sleepy body lotion. Lavender, tonka, ylang ylang make up the main scent notes. While cocoa butter and shea butter are the main butters which leave your skin feeling very soft after it has been used. The name says it’s all, Sleep is made to help with sleep. Which I can say it really does especially if you use some of the other products from the Sleepy scent family. Layer Sleepy shower gel with Sleep massage bar and top it all off with a few sprays of Twilight body spray and you will soon be drifting off to sleep. There are more products that share the same scent but the ones mentioned are what I reach for when I know I need a restful nights sleep. Sleep is so important for your body and just having those little extra things to use in helping you get to sleep is even better. Self care should be practiced every day and by this I mean you can add it into your bedtime routine. Sultana of Soap soap is now my new soap for washing my hands in the kitchen. I have given up on using liquid hand soaps as they just make the eczema on my hands so much worse. Sultana of Soap has been one of my go to year round soaps now for over 10 years. I absolutely love it, from how creamy it is to the smell. The scent memories are strong with Pansy body lotion. Pansy shares its scent with The Olive Branch shower gel. Think touching a mandarin tree, after it has rained or you brush past it and the scent fulls the air. This scent reminds me of being a child at my Great Grandmothers house, during the Summer rains and racing outside to play once they have stopped. Love Burger bath gift. Love Burger has two bath bomb burger buns, burger bubble bar, tomato and lettuce soaps. It’s hard not to smile when you open this up as it’s just so cute. Even though Rose Jam shower gel is available all year round it still reminds me of Valentine’s Day. There is something about giving someone you love roses, well in this case a bottle of roses that just makes you happy. Sweet vanilla pod infusion, sicilian lemon oil, fresh goji berry juice, rose absolute, rose oil and Argan oil give Rose Jam its floral scent. Sometimes when you think rose, you think older lady because it’s just straight rose but Rose Jam isn’t like that at all you get those berry notes along with the citrus and rose. You either love or dislike shower jellies. They are not for everyone but I happen to love them. Do I use them very often… no I don’t as I tend to forget to pick one to use out of my shelf. Whoosh shower jelly was one of the very first shower jellies I ever tried. I have been obsessed with the scent ever since and do wish Lush would make a Whoosh shower gel. Whoosh is packed full of lemon, grapefruit and rosemary. It’s one of those scents that wakes you up but also helps chill you out at the same time. It’s refreshing on those hot sticky days or just as a pick me up when the cold days of Winter are getting to you. You can freeze, chop up, tear off or even blend shower jellies up to use them. My go to way is either straight out the pot or to pop the whole thing into a cotton bag. I do return the jelly to the pot after using it if it’s in a cotton bag and wash the bag before using again. You can smoosh them into a wash cloth or luffa. Chop them up, add to a sieve to make bubbles for your bath as well. I have to admit once the jelly is small I do love to just give it a huge squeeze and smoosh it in my hands before using. It’s been a while old friend and how I have forgotten how much I actually love you as a product. Sympathy for the Skin body lotion is packed full of almond oil, cocoa butter, vanilla and banana. So as you can probably guess it smells like vanilla with a hint of banana. It is a lighter weight body lotion compared to something like Dream Cream body lotion, which tends to be on the heavier side and takes time to sink into your skin. Sympathy of the Skin isn’t like that and is one I use before getting dressed after a shower. It doesn’t leave you feeling sticky or gross like some body lotions can. The only thing I would worry about is knocking over the tub as it on the thinner side when it comes to texture, but that texture is what makes it perfect in my eyes. A little really does go a long way even with using it every day it still looks like my pot is brand new. American Cream perfume oil is one of my favourite scents at the moment. It is also the scent that I get the most compliments on when I wear it. Think vanilla with a hint of strawberry. It just mixes with my skin chemistry beautifully and is one I’m always reaching for. I’ve got the liquid perfume and solid perfume as well. Love them all so much. It has been a very long time since I’ve brought a lip scrub from Lush as a lot of them contain lustre. Which I cannot use if it settles on the skin, it makes the eczema I get really itchy. Which means I check every product before buying it especially if I know it won’t wash off. Was very happy to find that Wednesday’s Child is Full of Woe lip scrub doesn’t contain any lustre at all so brought it on a whim. I am very happy that I did as I absolutely love it. The only thing is I can’t place which scent family it comes from. I want to say The Comforter but I could be completely wrong. Demon in the Dark soap has been a go to product for me at the moment, thanks to long, hot, sticky Summer days. Fresh apple, clove and mint are the main scent notes of Demon in the Dark. Snow Fairy foaming body scrub is a beautiful body scrub. Being rice based the scrub is a lot more finer than if it was salt or sugar which makes for a more gritty type of scrub. I have been enjoying it a lot, especially with helping to remove the skin after being sunburnt. I really do hope Lush continues to use this formula for scrubs and brings them out in different scents. My skin felt very soft and smelt amazing after using the foaming scrub. As someone that has trouble with salt based scrubs burning my hands when used this has been an excellent alternative. We all use Lush in different ways, some have a beautiful bath every day or make the time to at least once a week. Myself I use more shower type products. I still use Lush shower gels, jellies and soaps, I just do not have as many as I once did. Now Lush to me is related to the mood I want to set for the day or the mood that the day has been. If I need a pick me up of a citrus kick I will reach for something like Ectoplasm. If the day has been long and a good nights sleep is called for Twilight or Sleepy are my go to products. Something floral like Rose Jam or Honey I Washed The Kids for Spring. Autumn, you watch the leaves change colours, you smell the damp earth under foot when walking over leaves or grass something like Hot Toddy or Grass are called for. We can get lost in trying to keep up with every new Limited Edition range, new products or even the subscription box. Ghost shower gel was the very first shower gel I ever tried from LUSH. I am pretty sure I still have the empty bottle from 12 years ago, with the white retro label. Ghost will always hold a very special place in my heart and is a scent that I have been completely obsessed with since I first opened up the bottle to smell. Rose, ylang ylang, dove orchid, jasmine and neroli. Ghost is a very beautiful floral scent, that just hits in all the right places. It is not over powering or in your face like a lot of floral scents can be. If you know anything about me I have a very strong dislike for anything jasmine scented but in Ghost you really cannot smell it at all. Ghost is on the runnier side of shower gels but has a beautiful lather. The scent also sticks to your skin when you are out of the shower or bath. Many, many moons ago, a new Lushie was in the making. Experiencing her very first Lush Halloween, which then would set off a huge obsession with Lush especially the Halloween collections. Twilight shower gel was part of that very first Halloween collection I got to experience. There was a slight difference to the shower gel thou… it was packed full of silver lustre that would swirl through the bottle, mixing with that beautiful shade of purple that is Twilight shower gel. One thing that has never changed is that distinctive scent that is Twilight. Lavender, Tonka and Ylang Ylang make up the malty lavender scent that is Twilight. The way Lush does lavender scents just hits differently after a long day. When I need a good nights sleep Twilight is what I always reach for, to help drift off to sleep easily. You can layer products from the Twilight or Sleepy scent family to make the scent last longer or to relax you even more. Lavender has been used for centuries to help with sleep. I know not everyone likes it and that’s ok. You may have another scent that helps you drift off to sleep. Just as long as you are doing something to help you relax before sleep that’s all that matters. When I saw that the Love body lotion was available in the kitchen box I searched everywhere to find back ups. The fact that I own seven Love body lotions it’s enough for you to understand how much I love this product! The lotion itself is enough moisturising on the skin without leaving it too oily or greasy. You can easily dress up after a couple of minutes of applying it. Mermaid bath bomb looks and smells absolutely amazing. Packed full of lemon myrtle, ylang ylang, grapefruit and course sea salt. Once upon a time Trichomania shampoo bar used to be sold in stores across the globe. It was packaged up to look like a cheese wheel with its red wax that you would peel off before using the solid shampoo. This time the wax is pink and reminds me of a chunk of coconut ice just from the way it looks. Packed full of coconut cream, soya lecithin, desiccated coconut and vetivert oil. Trichomania is on the more moisturising side of shampoo bars Lush has put out. I have fine, straight hair that gets oily easily and I do enjoy using this. Bubbling Under bubble bar shares its scent with Big Blue bath bomb, which are both packed full of seaweed and sea salt, lavender and lime. Just reminds me of being at the beach. Sea salt and seaweed are both actually really good for your skin. Sea salt helps to exfoliate and the seaweed helps to soften the skin. Gary the Snail bath bomb is beyond cute. As I was moving the packing peanuts in the box uncovering each product, Gary was one that made me smile because the scent just hit me as I picked him up to smell. This scent family brings back so many happy memories. Gary the Snail shares its scent with the American Cream scent family. Vanilla absolute, benzoin resinoid, clary sage and lavender are the main scent notes. Well it’s pretty much a strawberry vanilla milk shake but in bath product form. So I may have left Luigi shower gel in the sun and it made it change colour slightly. Luigi shower gel is a very fresh and crisp clean apple scent. Perfect for those Spring and Autumn days where you just want that little bit of a pick me up. The scent lingers once out of the shower which is always a nice bonus. Texture wise it is just right, lathers up beautifully and that colour is perfection. Lush has changed the name of this scent family a few times now. I feel like I have lost sight of why I started my account. I started it as away to keep track of the showers I was having. To see which products I loved using together. Pictures are taken outside because as a Mum to three children, two of which are only 15 months apart. I was finding that I was not spending time outside. Shower jellies can be used in a number of different ways. You can pop them in the freezer or fridge to use them cold, which feels amazing during Summer to cool down. Chop them up or rip pieces off, use each piece with a loofa or wash cloth. Keep them whole and just use as is. Run them under water for bubbles in your bath. Pop the whole thing into a cotton bag and use. Means it can be taken out the bag, put back in the tub and the bag can be washed after each use. You can blend them up. Just be warned thou that you may need two tubs to store it in now. I have known of people that once they have blended them up that they like to add sugar to make a body scrub. There is not right or wrong way to use a shower jelly, just try not to drop it or you run the risk of losing it down the plug whole. My kids if given them whole will lose the whole thing in the bath or they like to mash them between their hands and fingers. Poke holes in them or just rips them up. Princess Peach shower jelly hands down has to be one of my favourite scents Lush has brought out in a long time. Peach, pineapple and orange make up the main scent notes. It makes it like this tropical custard that you just want to eat with a spoon it’s that good. I do hope one day we see the scent used and made into a shower gel, since not everyone likes the shower jellies. Being excited about new products means that I do want to actually shower. I do wish I just brought a big tub as now they are sold out of the Lush New Zealand website. I no longer just buy Lush for the rush it used to give me. As the days start to get shorter and cool down, it is a reminder that Winter is on the way for the Southern Hemisphere. Blackberry bath bomb, no actual photo of the bath bomb as it got chucked into the bath by one of my children. I had no idea this was being discontinued as I would of got the kids to use a different bath bomb. Blackberry shares its scent with Sultana of soap. It is a bath bomb that has been around with Lush for a very long time so I am surprised to see it go. It used to be shaped like a round bath bomb with the word bomb on top of it, the same colour as it is now. Inside was a little piece of paper with the word boom on it. It is one of the very few bath bombs that does not contain lustre which means I can/ could actually use it. Am I a huge bath person… absolutely not. Sometimes there is no right thing to say, sometimes you need to take a break from posting or just because life is being lived. What does not change is the love around you. Whether it is from loved ones, friends, animals or even self love. One of the hardest things you may have to admit to yourself is that you are not coping mentally, physically or even both. You know what admitting that to yourself is the first step, which can be a huge relief. With that being said, I have been diagnosed with burnout, depression and anxiety. There has been many things over the last few months, maybe even years that have brought this on. I am okay, just processing it all in my own way. Trying to do things just for me, including setting boundaries with people including my kids, asking for help and telling those that love me what is going on. I acknowledged that something was not right and reached out before it got worse. The one thing I want to encourage you to do is check on those you love or even reach out when you are not feeling yourself. Make time to do things you love. I can not tell you how much of a wreck the last week has been. Middle child tested positive for Covid (she is all better now), my partner managed to break his arm and a couple of other things have gone wrong. It just felt like there was a lot of darkness and heavy energy surrounding my family. Where there is darkness there is always light, even if it looks like the smallest spec at the end of a long and winding tunnel. As I sit here writing this a few thoughts have crossed my mind. If you swipe right you will see the view that has me thinking this way, the view that I enjoy way more each time I see it. It’s time for a slight account change to mix the Lush with the nature, the more witchy side of life and so many more interests. Truth be told I have slightly fallen out of love with Lush. For me now it’s not about how many products you own but the way they make you feel when you use them. Looking at an ingredient list, seeing oh that ingredient is uplifting or that one will help with sleep or that one will help with the killer headache I have. It’s about going back to the basics of how I used to buy Lush and not letting the fear of missing out take over. Now I only buy products I know I will love and enjoy. This photo was taken a few weeks again and meant to be part of the Halloween posts I did but I never got around to posting it. Truth is I don’t like Lord Of Misrule and only got hold of this bottle for the size of it. The last time I’ve used it it trigger off a massive migraine. Not all products can be used by everyone, my self included. I react to the lustre in products, strong jasmine scents like lust trigger of the worst migraines ever. Salt burns my skin because of the eczema I have. My point is, if you can only afford to buy a few products or if you can afford a few dozen. Just make sure you are loving and enjoying what you have on hand. Make a use up list, if you don’t like something pass it on to a friend or loved one. Calacas well now Zesty shower gel will always be one of my favourite shower gels of all time. The scent holds some very special memories and is one I will never get sick of. I still have a few bottles stashed away in my shower gel shelf that I am slowly making my way through. Halloween maybe over but I am not ready to post Christmas products yet. Twilight shower gel along with Ghost shower gel were the two shower gels that came out as part of the Halloween range back in 2011. Still crazy to think it’s now been 11 years since I first tried Lush. Twilight will always be a favourite of mine. I use it when I am having trouble sleeping or I know I need a restful nights sleep. Lavender, tonka and ylang ylang are the main scent notes of Twilight. It is not just straight lavender which can come of as gross but more of a malty sort of grown up lavender. Taking a few deep breaths in while using Twilight, helps to relax you and get you ready for that restful nights sleep. The bottle I first tried had the most beautiful silver lustre in it. It really did look like the night sky when you squeezed it out of the bottle. Course this is before Lush changed there lustre which I now sadly react to. Sleepy in my opinion is not the same as Twilight. What can I say? Ghost shower gel is where it all started with my love for Lush 11 years ago. It is the first shower gel I ever used and fell absolutely head over heals in love with. I currently have a bottle in the shower that is being used up along with a Ghost shower jelly but more on that in a later post. Smelling of a rose, ylang ylang, dove orchid, jasmine and neroli. Ghost is a very beautiful floral scent, that just hits in all the right places. It is not over powering or in your face like a lot of floral scents can be. The texture of Ghost is on the runnier side but it has a beautiful lather that doesn’t dry out my overly sensitive skin. In fact the scent sticks to the skin once you are out of the shower. I do hope to see Ghost or even the scent used in more Halloween products. Halloween will always hold a special place in my heart. Not only does it mark my Lush Anniversary, but on the 31st October 2019 we brought our first home. As soon as I saw the Haunted House Tin I knew I had to have it. What better way to celebrate than with having this beautiful tin that can hold little reminders of things we have done in our home. It feels like there are a million things going on at the moment. My main focus has been on getting my gardens ready for planting for Spring and Summer. The garden bed that this photo was taken in is my flower garden bed that I have been watching come into bloom. Hoping that it will attract more bees into the garden. Only seems fitting to mark the first day of Spring here in New Zealand with Happy Blooming solid perfume. Happy Blooming is a cherry and almond scent. Sometimes you have to just listen to your body when it tells you to slow down and have a bath. That is exactly what happened to me today after I got home from my walk. Ceridwen’s Cauldron bath oil was used as my skin has flared up with eczema once again. Still trying to figure out what to use on it again. Ceridwen’s Cauldron is packed full of oats, cocoa butter, walnut oil, chamomile flowers and a few essential oils. Everything about Ceriswen’s Cauldron is just soothing for the skin. What can I say it has been a while. I just want to share where I am Lush wise. I am in a place where I am no longer just buying Lush because of the fair of missing out (FOMO). Over the last year my collection has been down sized to just products that I know I will use and absolutely love the scent of. I have gone from having 200 plus shower gels to just over 50. Is it still a lot… yes but a lot of these scents are ones that I do not think will be back out anytime soon. I used to have 12 of these shelves full with Lush, now it is down to 4 but there is room in them. A lot of the collection now is double ups. I am on a bit of a mission to use up shower gels that I have already opened and half used. To use up all the bubble bars I have left, which means I need to slow down and take the time to have baths. I tend to enjoy baths more during the Spring and Summer months. I no longer just use all Lush products because not everything Lush makes works for my skin type. To be honest I also want to make a few of my own things to try out like body scrubs, bath salts and a few other things. I will always love Lush as I found them at a time in my life where my skin was absolutely horrible and suffering from eczema really badly. I still struggle with my skin and since having covid, it has triggered off the eczema again. Still trying to find what works for me again. I will always love Lush, I am just not as obsessed with it as I once was. So there will be some changes. I want to include Lush with the new things I enjoy. As you know I love nature, the more witchy things in life and have a slight obsession with Lego. Calacas as known now as Zesty, same scent it has just had a name change. What can I say… it is an obsession, a love affair that started many, many years ago now. I have to say that Calacas is one of my all time favourite scents from Lush. Neroli and lime what more could you want. It’s that sweet candy scent that leaves you wanting more. I can smell the body spray days later after spraying it onto my clothes. You can say now that I definitely enjoy a good Lush citrus scent even thou so many of you get so sick of them. Maybe they just remind me of Spring and Summer. I’m craving hot weather so much right now. We are half way through Winter and I can’t wait to see all the plants come back to life. I’m already thinking about what to plant in my garden. I still love Lush but I need to figure out a balance of including the more witchy side of my life as well. Some days you wake up and just feel like you need a shower first thing in the morning. You feel like you need something to help put a smile on your face and to get you going. Ectoplasm does that for me. For the last week I have been using Ectoplasm shower scream for ever shower and a spray of the body spray once I’m dressed. Before anyone asks… no I have not been outside taking photos of Lush products. I take photos and often will talk myself out of posting them 🤦🏻♀️ I blame the perfectionist in me. I wanted to share the shower gels that I have and there matching body sprays. Something simple, yet something I’ve been over thinking. 3 out of the 5 of us have tested positive for Covid. Sakura gift set contains 100g Sakura body spray, Sakura bath bomb and 17 Cherry Tree Lane Soap which is an exclusive to this gift set. Sakura was inspire by cherry blossom trees. Lemon, orange, mimosa, gardenia and jasmine make up the scent. Again the jasmine is not very strong at all but it balances out with all the rest of the scent notes. Posh Chocolate body wash has fast become a favourite product of mine. It’s not very often I will use up a product not long after getting it but this little tub is now gone. If you have not tried Posh Chocolate by now I highly recommend you do. It smells just like a chocolate mousse, leaves your skin feeling super soft once out of the shower and dried off. Packed full off aloe vera, hazelnut milk, cocoa powder, sandalwood and vanilla. Let’s talk about bees for a minute and how important they are. Bees are one of the most important insects on the planet. Bees feed on pollen and nectar, while doing this they also help to pollinate flowering plants. That crisp crunching apple you enjoy, those berries you put into your smoothie, those sugar snap peas you enjoy as a easy snack will more likely than not be pollinated by a bee. They help keep the life cycle of many flowering plants going with the seeds that are produced once a flower is pollinated. The seeds can be harvested, dried, ready to plant for the next season, keeping the life cycle of a flowering plant going once more. My garden is a blank canvas that is slowly being planted out with flowers to help feed the bees to keep them going. Feeding the bees also means that my pea plants will be pollinated to grow snacks for my growing humans. During Winter bees slow down and there isn’t very many around but it is so important to plant, plants that flower during the Winter months if it is possible where you live. Just like it is important to plant, plants that flower over the Spring and Summer months. Buzzy Mum soap is absolutely beeautiful. Such a fresh scent with a hint of earthy tones to it.
