Dark venues bring a unique atmosphere of romance and wonder to a wedding. But some worry that the low lighting so special to these venues will result in less-than-amazing photos that are dark, blurry, disappointing, and don't remind you of how magical your wedding day was. Capturing the magical, romantic atmosphere that dark venues hold is important to me. Using too much flash during your ceremony or reception can interrupt the sense of togetherness and give photos an overly bright, washed-out appearance. On the opposite end, if I don't use added light, the moments I'm trying to capture won't be visible and the background will go black. Balancing the lighting and giving you photos that will transport you back to your wedding day is exactly what I aim to do. It’s Valentine’s Day, what better day to talk about art and love? For me, art and love are similarly meaningful. It’s the intangible way that both can make you feel connected and fulfilled, giving life meaning and making it feel complete. Art has always been deeply enmeshed with the idea of love, so it makes sense that after graduating with an MA in Art History, and working at Sotheby’s art auction house, bringing the two together in my own art has been so natural and fulfilling.When couples share my respect and admiration of art, and want to include art or museums in their wedding or engagement photos, it means so much to me! It’s international sisters day and while I grew up an only child I am fortunate enough to have cousins and childhood friends I’m close with today that are my “sisters.” I love capturing all the pretty photos of sisters at my weddings and while I have so many glamorous images and emotional candids, this is one of my favorite “sister” images when Nicole just processed from her ceremony and was about to walk through the reception room, her sisters pulled the curtains back and her father surprised her with a hug. Congratulations Alex and Mike! What a night and despite months of pouring over the details and timeline, we all found out at 5 pm that there would be fireworks. Now, everyone knows that the only way to photograph fireworks is with a tripod. I never use tripods (except for fireworks!) as my style of working is very fast paced, and I typically track 5 - 7 miles every wedding. For me, there is no time for a tripod when you are chasing candids. So, what was I to do? I had 3.5 hours to find a tripod!
