I. Miller Building, 1926, Louis Friedland. Abutting Times Square, this shoe store has a billboard obscuring most of the Broadway side but the 46th Street facade remains intact with arcades windows and niches filled with statues of famous actresses of the day (Barrymore, Miller, Pickford, and Ponselle) done by sculptor Alexander Sterling Calder. Throughout the past couple of years, I’ve deliberately isolated myself from society- during that time ,I chose to face, childhood trauma, insecurities, substance, and all other demons I was running from. NYC PHOTO DUMP | Day ✌🏼 Things I’ve learned: @dailyprov has the best coffee & breakfast sandwiches. Eating breakfast on a park bench is something I want to do almost everyday. If you do, expect pigeons and any bird in the area to demand some. Also be prepared to see local dogs 💩 on the sidewalk while you’re eating. The Museum of Natural History is ginormous and overwhelming. Surprisingly, the mineral exhibition was my favorite. I learned that some naturally form into geometric and symmetrical shapes outside of what I already knew. Nature is endlessly inspiring. Tried another hot dog from a different vendor that is usually my favorite store bought wiener. 10/10 do not recommend. There is something inspiring and lovely about hearing several different languages being spoken around you everyday. The south isn’t entirely diverse and I appreciate the diversity here. Band-Aids are a must for your heels. Preventative or not. Thrift store finds are eccentric, but clothing is $$. I was right about my feet withering and dying here. I need to adventure more into the foodie world. I’ve not eaten anything remotely familiar, besides the sub par nasty dogs. Everything outside of that, my taste buds have been delightfully surprised with new tastes and textures. I am perpetually inspired by the residential architecture. I am making mental and physical notes about things that I’d like to incorporate into future designs. More to come tomorrow! Thoughts and prayers for my cramping feet. 🤣
