FAQ Friday! Let's starting talking about some of the most common questions I get when people inquire about a session. Today's question: Photos are expensive. I can just take some on my phone. Why should I pay someone else to take them? Is it just because you want to make money and have a fancy camera? You are absolutely right; having your photos taken can be a pricey endeavor. When you factor in things like the cost of the session, your outfits, travel to the location, and then printing the photos after, it adds up. I fully understand that this is not always accessible to everyone. So why should you invest in professional photos? Is it just because of the camera? No. It's because you are allowing yourself to be in the moment. You get to be a part of the photos instead of being the director. You get to put all of that worry and detail work on me. By hiring me, you are able to have fun, run around, and experience a session. I capture moments that happen naturally, ones that you could try to recreate on your own, but it could feel robotic if you did. I want you to enjoy having your photos taken. Be a part of the experience. Let someone else see the beauty in you and your family. Another reason to have your photos taken professionally is the editing. Amanda and Mike are one of the sweetest couples, and you would never believe what they had to get through just to get to this engagement session. At first, our plan was to do some winter engagement photos on the beach, but illness got in the way. Then, we tried to go to the beach again, but just as they left their house, a pipe burst in their basement. Add onto that a handful of other issues, and you'll realize just how much work they put into just getting to their engagement session! They, however, never gave up and were so sweet about changing plans. The third try was the charm, and we decided to do a sunset session at Gibbet Hill in Groton to explore the Bancroft Castle ruins. I wish you could hear the laughter we shared during our twirling, running, and snuggles. They were game for just about anything, and we were taking pictures long after the sun actually went down. Arriving at your child's first birthday is an accomplishment to be celebrated by everyone in the family. Love, sweat, tears, bodily fluids... everything has gone into getting through the first year of life. The Ajaka family wanted to celebrate this milestone for the third time for their youngest, and we had so much fun!
