All the makeup products that entered my collection this year so far. And it’s all drugstore 🫢 I’m on a low buy and I’m trying to be more conscious about what I bring into my space right now. I’m trying to finish some stuff that are close to expiration date. The only impulse purchase was the quad, I haven’t tried drugstore shadows in a while and this one looked quite nice, haven’t played with it yet but I heard good things about it. The brow pen was a gift with purchase when I was buying a palette for my mom, but it was too cool toned for her so I kept it. Moonish Natural mascara is new to me, it will replace the one from Charlotte Tilbury I’ve been using thus far. The lip oil is a staple for me, the one from Moonish or Felicea, often times I have both at the same time, but now it’s only this one. Unfortunately I’m not a fan of the lip gloss from BrushUp, the color is nice but it’s bleeding outside the lip lines which makes it unwearable outside the house because it needs constant checking. I will use it up but would not repurchase. ▪️Makeup inventory - lips▪️ Finally, the last of my makeup inventory posts, and my favorite part of makeup - lipsticks! ▫️Lipsticks: 20, goal max 25? I love lipstick, I just do! 😍 So I don't mind having a bit more, as long as I still get decent use out of all of them. And I do! 😊 This year my collection has changed and will change quite a bit as I'm finishing up many, and then replacing those with new ones. Charlotte Tilbury is obviously my favorite brand and I will be repurchasing/purchasing some lipsticks from her later on in the year. I also really love the Romand glossy balms and plan on getting a few more. ▪️Makeup inventory - eyes & brows▪️ I wanted to do another collection deep-dive, but I've been putting off posting because not feeling like typing that much🥴, so here's some quicker thoughts instead. ▫️Eyeshadows: 41, goal max 50? I don't wear eyeshadow often, mainly because it takes me long enough to do the rest of my makeup, and I don't want to look too made up at work. So even though I don't own a lot, this is plenty for me and I still feel like I don't get nearly enough use of these😥. I love most of these still, just look at them😍😍! I do feel tempted to buy more, and I might, but I'm trying really hard not to, because I have enough variety here. ▫️Brow gels: 3, goal 2 The Benefit clear brow setter is superior, there's nothing else that holds my brows in place❤️. It's a must have for me and I hope they never discontinue. I wanted to try the Nyx as I heard good things, but it has nothing on the Benefit. It's usable, but I'm not loving it. ▫️Brow pencils: 5, goal 3-4 It's extremely difficult to find light enough and cool enough brow pencils for me. But I have found two favorites - for a thicker pencil the Charlotte Tilbury brow lift in light blonde and for a micro pencil the Benefit precisely my brow in 1 cool light blonde. Both are quite expensive so I've been trying to find something cheaper I like, but I'm coming to the conclusion that I'd rather pay for those and actually like the way my brows look..🤷🏼♀️ ▫️Eye primers: 1, goal 1 ▫️Eyeliners: 3, goal: 2 I hardly ever wear eyeliner as my eyes are so hooded I don't think it suits me if it's not super thin and barely there, and I don't have the skills for that. I haven't used the gold liner in over a year, but I can't seem to let it go, even though it's super thick and not smooth at all. ▪️Makeup inventory - base products▪️ Starting my makeup inventory with a deep dive to the basics: ▫️Primers: 1, goal 0 I don't find primers necessary and I don't want to have any in my collection. I used to like the CT flawless filter better, now I find it too dewy and the formula hard to blend with foundation. And it's pointless as I'm always going to powder my face, so the glowiness gets covered anyway.🤷🏼♀️ ▫️Foundations: 2, goal 2 The Lumene foundation has been my go-to for years, but they've reformulated recently (as they keep doing, and it's always for the worst🤯) and I'm scared to finish this one, repurchase the new formula and find out it's not nearly as good.. So I've been trying to find a new favorite. The L'oreal foundation is a great shade match for me, which is surprisingly, annoyingly difficult to find, but it's still so new to me that I'm not yet convinced of the formula 🤔. ▫️Concealers: 3, goal 3 The It Cosmetics under eye concealer is amazing, it's truly full coverage. I've been using it every time I do my makeup since I bought it in 2022 and it still looks full, it's crazy😧! You just need so little product. I just bought the Elf concealer on a whim and I'm disappointed😩. It reminds me of the Kosas concealer which I also didn't like - it feels heavy and thick but it's not high coverage. So I don't like to use it with foundation, and I'm only using it in place of a foundation on no-makeup makeup days.. The shade is also just a hair too dark for me. The Maybelline fit me on the other hand is the perfect concealer to spot conceal etc on top of a foundation and I've been using it for years. ▫️Powders: 6, goal 4 I use a lot of powder, I can't stand it if my face isn't set properly. I know it makes my makeup look more heavy and less natural that way, but I just have to.😂 So the RCMA powders are perfect for me, I don't need to keep repurchasing so often and they are affordable but great, and lightweight. The translucent powder is not actually translucent on me, but makes my makeup a bit darker, so I can't use it until the summer. CONTINUING IN THE COMMENTS!🙈

My minimalist makeup experiment for Jan. Swipe to see what I added, what I bought & what I thought. 1: I started with these favourites. I tried to limit myself just to see what happened. 2: I added these in around the halfway mark. The eyeliner should be in my start pile. I like tinted moisturizers with all mineral SPF. Powder foundation adds a little extra. 3: These didn’t get touched. I am looking forward to using several of them but for now I’m boxing them all back up to see what I reach for in February. 4: I bought Natasha D Mini Dream eyes and blush. Really glad I did. Soft Mauve Taupe neutrals that tone in perfectly with the ND I Need A Nude. INAN is turning out to be my favourite everyday neutral palette and this mini Dream eye shadow fits in perfectly 5: I used up my old Tarte Tubing mascara, then this Hourglass Unlocked and today I am starting a fresh Tarte Mini. Loved the Hourglass Unlocked and will buy more on the Sephora sale. 6: My favourite eyeliner timed out so I opened a fresh one. When I tested it against Sephora’s Waterproof 12 hour- L’Oréal won. 7: I bought this fresh Gimme Brow on Black Friday and replaced my old one. I don’t use brow gel much but it’s like the CT Brow Cheat- nice for times I want a change from Hourglass Arch Brow. I started the experiment on the lines of Project333 for clothes. Pick a number- I chose 20- to see if I can go a month without reaching for anything else. Box up the other makeup. If I want something, I grab it out and use it. It’s earned its way back if I use it more than once. At the end of the month see what wasn’t touched or only used once. Leave them in the box for another month and see what I reach for. I was surprised at how much I missed eye makeup and how little I missed blushes, lipsticks and my former neutral eyeshadow palette In Bloom. Some of it might be seasonal- I love CT Walk of Shame in the fall but I will check in monthly to see over the year. So my 1 month experiment will go for the year with monthly check ins. At the end I will let go of anything that I just don’t use anymore. Started with 20, added 14. 34 total. February starts with the 34. Next Check in on March 1.

What if? - I picked my 20 top favourite makeup pieces and put everything else aside for the month of January. I started this experiment on January 1 and it’s 10 days later. I’m inspired by #project333 for clothes which is 33 items for 3 months. I love my makeup- it’s a lot of fun so I’m not looking at minimizing more, but I want to play with it and see what I reach for and what I pass over & why. Please excuse the well used look- they’re everyday favourites and get lots of action. Photos 1-5 show the first 20 items I chose & how I organized them including makeup brushes. Photos 6&7 are today’s additions. Here’s how it’s going. I’m really enjoying using my Nars Matte concealer to spot conceal on top of my EltaMD mineral SPF. It’s all I’ve used on 8/10 days so far. I apply it with the Sephora 56, swirled into the concealer pot, not the concealer brush which I haven’t used at all. Today I woke up missing my Pillow Talk eye quad, blush, lip liner and lipstick. I thought the pinks in Mini Retro might do but they are cooler & I want my Pillow Talk back. Very Victoria lipstick is similar to PT but cooler. I wanted to use my fine point Charlotte Tilbury brow pencil to follow a new eyebrow tutorial. So I added them in. Up to 25 now. My starter kit was Natasha D I Need A Nude, ND Mini Retro, UD Naked Basics 2 & Wet N Wild Brûlée for eyes. Charlotte T Bronze & Glow & Hourglass Mood Exposure for cheeks. Lips are: CT Super Size liner, Glossier clear gloss, CT Very Victoria, CT Superstar lips in Pillow Talk and Mac Modesty. Fairly neutral to cool toned. I’m not surprised I reached for my favourite warm neutrals in all things Pillow Talk. My singles palette contains 3 different palettes. So the total is: 57 products, last year I had 66 products but I decluttered some. The total of eyeshadow pans I'll have to finish: 64.
