ORCHIDS PART 1 If you’re my friend you know how obsessed I am with orchids. I have 10 of them (more on that in another post). They are rescues from…me. As most of the population, I had no idea how to care for them. It didn’t even factor they might need it. I would walk by them every day without giving them as much as a glance. Feeding them water every blue moon. One day I realized that they are living beings. I made the connection. I felt incredibly guilty for neglecting them and started studying like a maniac. Fortunately, my path crossed with that of missorchidgirl (I can’t tag her, but she is on IG). I pretty much watched every video on her YouTube. I am so thankful for Danny. I soon came to realize that there is so much more to them than their beautiful blooms. They are teachers in resilience. Orchids are mysterious and fascinating creatures. They are overlooked and most of the time not cared for properly. Nonetheless, they gift us their incredible beauty in exchange for nothing. Adopt an orchid (or 10) and you’ll find yourself smiling more, singing more and talking more out loud, while doing your daily chores. Of course, as soon as @lilianarive told me there was an orchid show @nybg I had to run to see it. Phalaenopsis equestris f. aurea🤍💛 A rather difficult to cultivate natural form that does not tolorate culture mistakes, it does not like it too wet, not too dry, decides to let the roots die in the short term, does not like sphagnum moss or mixed bark substrate, so for now she is potted in pure pine bark. Under LED lighting my other phalaenopsis are coming into bloom, she is throwing buds.
