Em Novembro comecei a encher um novo canteiro elevado com paus, residuos vegetais, cartão, palha e até ferros.(ver sequência de fotos) Ao longo dos meses seguintes fui colocando composto e terra por cima, tomando como inspiração o método "hugelkultur". Em fevereiro coloquei-lhe uma cobertura plastica que esteve por pouco tempo, até que o tempo começasse a aquecer. Plantei tomateiros, pimenteiros e pak choi. Os Pak Choi que colhi foram os maiores que já tive. Os tomateiros e pimenteiros têm o tamanho que aqui normalmente só atingem em Junho. Primeiro tomate a 25 de abril, mais de um mês antes dos do ano passado. A terra mantém-se húmida, mesmo sem praticamente regar. Neues Hochbeet Boah! Endlich. Ich weiß ihr seid jetzt auch alle im Garten. Das Wetter ist großartig. Leichter Wind, Sonne satt und alles zwitschert. Wie ich es liebe! Also ging es weiter ans neue Hochbeet. Aus alten Paletten die wir noch da hatten hat mein Mann gebastelt, gebaut, geschraubt und getackert. Statt des rosenbogen auf der anderen Seite haben wir uns für eine Stange entschieden. Da bohre ich noch Haken rein und dann kommen da dieses Jahr die Tomaten hin und können sich bei Wind auch mal fest halten :) Aber wie es so ist. Man hat noch so viele Ideen, noch Erde übrig, Pflanzen da. Also wird ein Hochbeet gebaut. Mittendrin fällt mir dann auf, Erde fehlt… nun gibt es neue Erde, von der sicher wieder was übrig bleibt… Kicher… und so wächst der garten Jahr um Jahr. Ich freu mich so! Das Endergebnis zeige ich euch kommende Woche. TOMATER DEL 2 Nu pratar jag om årets tomater. Jag var lite bold och köpte bifftomater (🥴) och nu har den första tomaten alltså kikat fram. Detta är lite av ett experiment och jag har absolut ingen aning om vart alla ska få plats då de just nu trängs på den lilla yta som mitt söderfönster ger! Utöver dessa har jag även 6-7 tomater av en sort jag inte vet. Jag fick frön från en väns kära mor och det enda jag vet är att tomaterna blir gröna (hur vet man när de är mogna då????) Sen tänkte jag försöka byta mig till lite vanliga sorter, typ körsbärstomater och så. Jag är en sucker för tomat och det enda jag känner att jag ångrar är väl att jag inte också odlar ”vanliga” tomater. Men å andra sidan vet jag inte ens om mina bifftomater överlever på sådan liten yta, så vi får se. Most of the summer harvests are done, and I need to transition the garden to cold weather crops. I’m very late with these and have so much to catch up on, but I’ve been grateful for a bit of a break! Ab Heute bin ich wieder für 14 Tage Hühner Mama. Ich hoffe, es geht alles gut, da wir am Freitag schon wieder den Fuchs gesehen haben 😢 Das Wetter ist schön und die Erbsen sprießen 🥰 Dass das so bleibt, habe ich viel Kaffeesatz und Eierschalen verteilt in der Hoffnung, die Schnecken bleiben fern 😩 Und damit auch die Vögel darauf keinen Appetit bekommen, ein Netz. Today was the perfect day for amending the garden soil. I used a combination of homemade compost, vermicast, and composted sheep manure. About 250 kg worth for this mixture was added. What a beauty!!! This was so stunning that I had to snag it. I normally do not buy tropical plants that cannot overwinter easily here in zone 7. Next to my pool; however, I love to use more tropical looking flowers like hibiscus, canna, and lantana. Heute habe ich seit langem mal wieder Brot gebacken! Es ist ein Weizen-Sauerteig Brot mit italienischem Mehl. Das soll besonders glutenhaltig sein. Durch das Gluten lässt sich das Brot mit höherem Wasseranteil backen, da die Glutenmoleküle sich verketten und das Brot so stabil machen. Diese Molekülketten fördert man durch das mehrmalige Dehnen und Falten während der Ruhezeit. Ich habe den Sauerteig gestern Abend gefüttert. Heute Mittag wurden dann ca. 85g des aktiven Sauerteigs mit 300g Wasser und 500g Weizenmehl Typ "00" sowie 1 EL Salz und etwas Süße verknetet. Man kann hier aber auch das deutsche Weizenmehl 405 nehmen. In die Schüssel habe ich noch etwas Olivenöl gegeben. Nach ca. 1h wurde das erste mal gedehnt und gefaltet. 1 Stunde später dann nochmal. Der Teig mag es während der Reifezeit schön kuschelig warm. Nachdem das Brot dann noch ca. 5h reifen durfte habe ich es in meinen Dutch Oven gegeben. Das ist ein Metalltopf für den Backofen. Auch ein Römertopf ist hier verwendbar. Den Topf habe ich mit dem Ofen zusammen auf 250°C Ober-/Unterhitze aufgeheizt. Dann den Teig rein, am besten auf einem kleinen Stück Backpapier, Deckel drauf und 25min backen. Je nach dem wie dunkel es sein soll dann nochmal 5-15min ohne Deckel.
