We’d like to introduce you to our featured venue for this months show: ABC (@abc_kultur) **ABC - finally open again after 11 years of vacancy!** Not only 'City', 'the Puhdys' or 'Knorkator' gave their first concerts at the ABC, the former "Arthur Becker Club" in Köpenick, but many bands found a rehearsal venue and stage for their creative work here. The ABC was alsoa legendary venue for youth theater, dance groups, discos and parties. In the 90s, the building was known as "ABC - Rocks". Somehow, everyone* was in the ABC at some point during that time. In 2012, it fell victim to Berlin's austerity policy. Even a great committed fight could not prevent this. During the coronavirus lockdown in 2021, the idea was born to use the ABC's garden and large hall for public use again. Before it was closed, a lot of money had been invested in soundproofing and a ventilation system. An initiative of associations and youth clubs fought for three years to reopen it as a meeting place for theater, dance, puppet shows, concerts for young and old and environmental education in the beautiful garden along the Erpe (a protected landscape area). The ABC reopened its doors for the first time in May 2023 with the dazzling theater production ALICE by the Schlosspatztheater with the group Metafiktion Cabaret. Further work and approvals were still required before regular operations were possible again in the fall of 2023. With "ABC - Clubkonzerte", "junge Clubkonzerte" and "junge Bühne im ABC", we are building on this history of the "ABC" venue and want to revive it as a place for culture and encounters. FINAL ARTIST ANNOUNCEMENT: ZOFIA CHARCHAN (@zofia12charchan ) is known for deep, emotional and sometimes melancholic sounds, especially when she writes music about the things that happen to her in life. From an early age, she developed her passion for storytelling and has been performing her songs since the age of 16. Her audiences often describe her music as a state they haven't been in for a long time. In March 2024, Zofia Charchan founded the event series "THE SECRET SESSIONS" (@thesecretsessions.berlin ) , which focuses on the promotion of art and cultural spaces as well as all performing artists. Ticket revenue is shared, donations are collected and new projects are presented. In this way, the audience is also an active part of the Berlin music, art and culture scene and supports it exactly where it is needed! As part of our Welcome to the Neighbourhood program, we run a free training program for newcomer artists in community arts facilitation (ages 18+). These workshops are designed to be an introductory course to orient newcomer artists in the field of community arts and facilitation in Canada. Throwback to the wonderful Celebration for the Arts, hosted by Mayor Jyoti Gondek ( @jyotigondek ). It was an amazing night for art leaders and we celebrate IAMP Mentor Claudia Chagoya ( @claudiachagoya.art ) who won the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society's "New Canadian Artist Award for 2022". Big thank you to everyone who showed up and celebrated the people who make the city vibrant!

This November, ICAI is spotlighting @eskerfoundation ! The Esker Foundation was founded in 2012 by Jim and Susan Hill, and is a non-profit contemporary art gallery located in Calgary, Alberta. Esker Foundation has been a huge support to ICAI and the IAMP program in particular and we want our community to know more about them. The @cityofcalgary is in search of art by artists with strong ties to northeast Calgary to be featured in outdoor mini-galleries at 10 community centres throughout 2023.
