🪞🪞 This antique mirrored armoire is equal parts gorgeous and functional! It measures 50” wide, 89 1/2” tall, and 20 3/4” deep, with two long drawers at the bottom and two beveled, mirrored doors that open to the large cabinet inside. The cabinet is split in half until the top shelves which are open across the width of the cabinet. In its current configuration, there are 8, fairly even shelves that are all quite large, although there’s a rod at the top of the right side running along the depth of the cabinet, so it would also be great with the top shelf removed on the right side to hang coats or other clothing. In addition to the incredible amount of storage, this piece also boasts incredibly sturdy, antique construction, a lovely curved pediment with sweet, floral-inspired ornamentation, and an extremely classic silhouette. This armoire is in amazing condition for having been made sometime in the late 1800s/early 1900s, only showing minor signs of wear and a slight patina on the glass. An extremely similar comp with the decorative pediment missing retails for $1,450 and another comp with a pediment but no mirrors retails for $4,200! 🐦🐦 This Defltware-style ceramic dove lamp is so sweet! The base is an Italian ceramic statue of a pair of mourning doves with sweet hand-painted blue floral motifs and a sweet, scalloped edge on the bottom. When it was converted into a lamp, it was placed on a beautiful, custom blonde wood base and fitted with a unique, offset lamp stand. It’s a midcentury piece in great vintage condition, with only a few chips on one of the dove’s tails that reveal the clay underneath, although it’s a similar light color to the glaze so it’s not extremely noticable. The piece measures 22” tall to the top of the finial and approximately 7” wide at the base. 🦚SOLD🦚 This miniature peacock painting and its Islamic-style mosaic frame are just magical! The piece is likely painted on tile and depicts 4 colorful birds, one of which is a peacock displaying its train. We absolutely love the stylized flora in the background, especially the abstract design of the flowers and the bright colors and whimsical brush strokes of the greenery. The painting measures 9 1/4” x 3 1/2” and the frame measures 12 3/4” x 7”, perfect to fill any small vertical space that needs a pop of color. (It also comes with a stand to display on a mantel or desk!) The wood veneer frame is extremely ornate, featuring two alternating geometric patterns in a typical Islamic ornament style on the face and a third pattern around the outer edge laid into the wood. It’s likely a midcentury piece, and there are some signs of aging in the frame, including some sections where the veneer layer pulls away from the wood and certain parts of the thin, white borders that have been chipped, but the imperfections add lots of charm and character. Sometimes called a scholar’s cabinet or a wedding cabinet, it’s known as a bandaji, which literally means “half closing” in reference to the distinctive hinged door at the front. Though we’re not sure of its age, it was purchased as a vintage piece in Singapore in the 1980’s. It’s likely artisan-made, constructed of durable elmwood, and features four small drawers at the top, two large cabinets behind the larger front doors, amazing lining all over the interior, and lots of decorative iron hardware that reflects the artistry of its time. It’s Majolica pottery with a stunning blue glaze, a brown scalloped detail at the bottom of the bowl, and tall, orange triangular accents with painted trees at the base. It’s enormous, measuring 50” tall and 18 1/2” across, so it’s a perfect statement piece to fill an empty corner. We also love imagining it among lots of other planters in a sunroom or on a porch. It’s antique, from circa 1910, and is likely French. 🥖SOLD🥖 This rustic wooden bread bowl is absolutely magical (and huge)! It’s certainly antique, likely from the mid-19th century, and was hand carved from a single dense piece of wood. Bowls like this were often used to knead and proof bread dough, but this piece is extremely versatile! It would make a perfect fruit bowl for homes that use lots of fresh produce, and it looks incredible styled as a centerpiece or layered against a wall with other wooden pieces. It measures 28” from handle to handle and 18 3/4” across the center, although it isn’t a perfect circle. The imperfection is potentially our favorite part of the piece, demonstrating its handmade origin and long history. We love the crack in the side and the way you can see the careful repair work, which itself is likely from early 1900s. Its simple but unique shape speak perfectly to such a wide variety of design styles, whether they lean a bit more minimal, traditional, or rustic. Comps range from $325-550 for slightly smaller bowls (20-23”)! It’s a pair of complementary swans that are both 8 1/2” long, with one standing slightly taller at just over 14” and the other measuring 10 1/2” tall. They’re sturdy vintage brass with a great patina and a few areas with darker spots. There is so much amazing attention to detail all over their feathers and faces. We naturally imagine them as planters but they would look gorgeous styled with floral bouquets or used simply on their own as beautiful figurines placed on a mantle or really anywhere you need quite a bit of height and a statement piece. These are midcentury pieces produced in a variety of sizes, and this medium size is extremely hard to come by.
