Signed up for the Pirtek Fishing Challenge again this year. Decided I'd give the Bribie Passage a crack and see if I could find some big flatties lurking around. Mother nature dished up another postcard moment, with some glassed out conditions early, they changed during the course of the day, but nowhere as bad as what I was expecting. Saturday morning started slowly, with nothing hitting the lures. Wasn't until I pushed further up the creek I was in with the last hour of the run in tide, that I found my first flattie a nice 60cm,. It must of been a little hang out area for them as I picked up several others around 40 to 50cm on the Holt Productions swim minnows. Went around the corner further up and found a 63cm as well. Everything went a bit quiet with the slack of the tide, and into the first hour or so of the run out. Not for too long though, and with Gobblers Lures paddle shad on a small flattye and grunter took a liking to it in quick succession. Continued the drift back down, to where I was previously, and have had good success in the past and pulled up a jewie . Knowing they were there I got a little side tracked from my flattie mission😁. With another little jewie and a grunter snapping at the Holts swim prawn. Found what I suspected was a big flatty on the flats that spat the hook early in the battle. I decided to get up on the flats and see if I could find some more. Rookie error on my part was staying on those mud flats for to long, and getting stuck. So had a bit to eat and waited for the tide to get high enough for me to paddle across (which was a mission itsef). Didn't find anymore fish and time was getting on so called it for the day with the plan to give it another crack on Sunday.
