This hunting season was one for the dogs! Literally, without man’s best friend this year, we would not have had the outcomes we had. Another huge shoutout to Spot and Daisy for helping the kids recover their first deer. I cannot express how thankful I am for those two amazing pups. I shared the duck blind with some true hunters! From grand champions, to rookies. And I was never disappointed watching any of them. When you can look at a dog and see drive and true love for it, you are looking at something special. The amount of training, discipline, and hard work these animals put in is truly something else. I didn’t understand it when I was younger, but the older I get the more I admire and appreciate hunting with a good dog. So to Spot, Daisy, my old buddy Cole, Owen, Huck, Bruiser, and (even though I didn’t get to go with you, I enjoyed every story and video I watched) Lucky, you are some GOOD DOGS! Helluva season. The 2023 World Duck Calling Championship was another good one. This was my second year to qualify and I was fortunate enough to do it with my own call. My goal this year was to make the third round and I achieved that goal. I enjoyed getting to hangout with so many good friends I have made from around the nation because of contest calling. We all want to do well and we all want to win but when you are sitting back stage laughing with guys you only see a few times a year it always makes for a good time. Contest season is now over and it is time to focus on ducks but as soon as it is over the work for next year begins.
