Until this past week I had never spent so much time on one piece. I absolutely loved the slow, methodical pace these larger pieces lend themselves to. I also enjoyed the kinetic nature of the process- so much standing up, walking around the piece, making coils, paddling. It’s so different from wheel throwing where I, as a person who has spent my life doing manual labor, sometimes feel stuck at the wheel. I’m looking forward to listening to the positive response I received from my body and mind and adding a bit more hand building into the mix. This pot still has a way to go before it’s finished.
