On a farm like ours, every living thing has a job. We don't use our goats for meat or milk, but they're great at helping us keep up with the weeds on this big property! They also provide us and the guests with endless head rubs. One thing we love about raising goats is that they're fun! Goats enjoy interacting with humans, are easy to feed, and don't take up too much space. That said, goats aren't great pets for everyone. Goats bleat loudly when they want attention and require regular maintenance - like trimming their hooves! Many say that a bored goat is a naughty goat. This is true. Just last week, they were bored taking down the cover crop in the vineyard and decided to take a tour of the main house through the open door. We're big believers that animals have personalities. I would like to officially introduce you to Beatrice and Betty! These sweet little lambs are getting more comfortable in their environment. They absolutely love Johnny cash and follow him around most of the day. They are inquisitive and fun. We have enjoyed watching them frolic in the pen. Slowly but surely they are getting more comfortable around me. They greet me at the gate every morning for their breakfast. But they still prefer to keep a healthy distance between us.
