Rather than bar stools, although there are many, (& we all know their various problems), we used Uber comfortable chairs and custom sized the height to fit our bar height which is unique to our space and conditions. When work is such a pleasure. The walls of the l’Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay tell the story from the year 900. It was inhabited until 1790, after numerous wars and epidemics. La Baronne Charlotte de Rothschild took it under her wing a century later. It entered a sad chapter of history during WWll, and was the home to many statues from Versailles hidden away, during those unspeakable years. Today, one finds a magnificent estate hidden in the center of an enormous reserve. At once, you are engulfed in an enormous manse, and while the common rooms are large and many, you feel like you have been invited personally by the Baron for the weekend. And here comes the weekend. Believe it or not, the kitchen was marigold yellow when the home was purchased from a high profile celeb. I worked with @christopherpeacock to create a glamorous, yet practical oasis. Often inexpensive enters directly into the parlor floor with ni separation. One has a large space to work with but not much width. In this case, we created almost mirror image seating vignettes to the left and right of the fireplace each side with its own twist- like the Yves Klein coffee table to the left and the custom designed organic shaped to the right; the non pair of @johnwigmore light boxes flanking the fireplace. There is no shortage of entertaining rooms in the townhouse and each provides a different function for the homeowners.
